Jamie Collins...

Re: Jamie collins

I need to see more of Fletcher before declaring him a star but, I liked what I saw. Seems to have a knack for making plays when he gets out there. Hopefully Hightower turns it around.

Re: Jamie collins

I thought his best play was when they sent him and Fletcher(iirc) on the blitz. You could see the force he was coming with spooked Manning.

Although when Manning dove back on the ball and Collins dove on him I was half expecting there to be a flag against Collins.

Re: Jamie collins

It was weird that he did all that in limited playing time, it seemed like he was right there on every play, same thing with Fletcher. I am curious though if this is more a flash in limited playing time for Fletcher or if he Collins and Hightower would be competing for the two starting LB jobs next season.

I was talking about that play Monday. What stood out to me was that the Pats didn't even disguise what they were doing. They showed blitz all the way and Zane Beadles was on his back with Manning throwing off his back foot.

Re: Jamie collins

I see the scorer hosed him on a sack for that play though. That play was not a designed run for Manning.

Re: Jamie collins

I've always thought Fletcher was a brainy player who is also a playmaker. It was just a question of whether he could put it together and stay healthy. He did that against the Broncos and really showed up in the game.

As for Collins, he's definitely got the speed and talent; it looks like he might be getting it and putting it together. I hope so because we really need that guy who can cover the TE/RB.

Both are good signs for now and into the future.

Jamie collins

The Denver game looked like probably his best game as a patriot so far. 10 tackles, loked good rushing the passer

And looks like a solid cover lb..played some great pass defense on welker.

Hopefully this is a sign of things to come because it gives us more options to play spikes/hightower against the run and Fletcher/Collins against the pass

I hope that Collins was watching Von Miller on Sunday because Jamie has the skill set to be that type of player or close to it, he just needs to put it together. I am very excited for his future he is the type of player I could envision becoming a monster in year two.

Re: Jamie collins

I hate to say it like this, but the part of Fletcher's game I like the most is his intelligence.

I only focused on him for a half dozen plays in the Denver game: he made some good plays, but he's also a tad small; guards getting to the 2nd level physically outmatched him.

P.S. Collins knocking the ball outta Welkers grasp in OT gets a big fist pump from me... even during last nights replay....

Re: Jamie collins

I like Collins a lot so I focused on him when he was out there. He was all over the place. Really good game from him and from Fletcher.

I expect he'll have a good future with this club.

Couldn't have predicted Collins and Fletcher stepping it up like they did. Both were all over the place and contributed greatly to our win. I recall Gresh telling us that Fletcher sucks (paraphrasing him) and inquiring why he was on the team. He didn't last game, but loved what I saw from Collins. Loved what I saw from him in coverage. Made some good plays in coverage.

Re: Jamie collins

It wouldn't surprise me in the least to see a team like the Giants sign Fletcher this offseason to be their starting MLB. He's a good football player, and I am still surprised that it took the Patriots this long to utilize him more once Mayo went down.

Re: Jamie collins

Something I think should be pointed out. The reason why Collins got 10 tackles on 22 snaps is because when he was on the field Denver obviously felt it was a matchup they could exploit and tried to pick on him.

I understand the reasoning and would probably have tried to do the same and test him with Welker & TEs. However to Collins credit he held up his end while being the focus of the opposing offense.

Re: Jamie collins

Pretty sure half his tackles were on plays that were away from him. Which I think says that even if they may have targeted him some he also wasn't a liability and constantly getting picked on while he was out there.
