Sir James deserves recognition, he's worked hard for it and his contributions on and off the field are most worthy. Well done James, enjoy the many tears of agony which this award has prompted in the forum! :woohoo:

Not a huge Sanders fan, hes normally invisible out there. I also think there were other better choice on the pats defense but it is what it is and he did actually play well for once.

A deserved acknowledgment of a game well played. Congratulations, Mr. Sanders.

Not who I would have chosen, but he did have a hall of a game and he's been underrated and unfairly maligned for years, so I'm def. happy for him.

Yeah i think he deserved it THIS week but i hope he can keep it up! one guy who i wish would get more reconation then he does is big vince, i know he gets the money and all that but man he makes almost all of the good things happen! (maybe it is just me trying to give some cred to linemen since i was one in hs lol)

I AM a big Sanders fan, and I can't really remember Pats' fans being dissappointed when a Patriot wins an award. Well deserved for a hardworking unsung player. Chung and Merriweather have quickly pushed him out of the starting rotation, but he is still a starting quality S who had a great game and deserves the recognition. It is possible that this could be the most recognition he gets in his career... pretty sad that people want to scoff about it.

BTW, Sanders age watch: Just turned 27 on Thursday.

Congratulations top Sanders. Let hope he continues his good play, as they will certianly need it this week.

Brady didn't get the offensive award?

Interesting choice.

I've read the comments stating that this was the defensive gem of the week, so the NFL picked a player that led the effort.

NE was able to hold Pittsburgh to only 26 points, after they put up 10 points on the New Orleans and Cleveland defenses. Wait a minute, that doesn't sound right.

NE stuffed Pittsburgh, keeping them at 425 yards of total offense, after they leapt to 314, 279, 348, and 328 yards the previous four weeks with Roethlisberger. No, that doesn't sound good either.

So I guess they selected a guy that returned an interception for a touchdown and made a highlight film (if potentially punishable) hit on Hines Ward.

Was the point of this post to illustrate that stats can be misleading? If so, a terrific effort.

Are you stupid? When the game actually mattered, this was a defensive gem for us.

Hard to fathom why they chose Sanders. The interception was off a tip by Chung, and Chung was even the guy tackling Hines Ward when Sanders collided with him. Chung was all over the field making plays on Sunday and had 10 tackles to Sanders 4. They both gave up touchdowns.

I'm not a big Sanders fan, he's a poor tackler for a safety, but he's fine as a backup. And to give him credit, I noticed on Sunday night that it was Sanders that Belichick was spending 1:1 time with on the sideline in the 2nd half, he's clearly the quarterback of the secondary.
