I just noticed that Jake Long is a free agent, I think he would be an upgrade on our team, I'm sure he demands big money, but I think it wouldn't hurt us if we sign him to a one year deal?

We need some rock solid veterans on our O-Line that can get the job done.

Maybe an upgrade on Cannon, not Solder or Vollmer. Will not demand big money. Is not rock solid. Will not likely get the job done. Other than that, I agree with everything you said.

My question is? If he is such an upgrade than why is he still on the open market? He could of been signed by a playoff team last season. Is it the money or are teams aware of a severe deficiency in his attitude or overall game?

He's been done for a while now.

Jake Long? Bidee bidee bidee...

Main problem with him is that he can't be relied on at all due to his injury history. If not for that, you could rely on him to be a functional player, albeit just a fraction of what he used to be. He wouldn't start for us, and as a backup I want someone a bit more reliably available if called upon for a few-week stretch.

He was one of the best offensive tackles in the league 5 years and a dozen ligaments ago. Now he's nothing.

Hey, he's gotta be better than Cannonfodder & Waddle.

Sounds like a waste of a roster spot to me. If Long is your #3, then you'll be using your #4 before too long.

The only way I'd be okay with bringing Long in for a backup role would be a no risk pact with very minimal guaranteed money.

Since that's unlikely to happen, he's not really an option for multiple reasons.

If he's happy to spend the offseason with the Mannings "borrowing" Ashley's special sauce, then sure. Sadly, it appears his body has let him down (and that's frustrating). Long was a helluva player.

If he was rock solid he wouldn't be looking for a job, guys had so many injuries he probably shouldn't play
