This was Jacoby against FSU.

There are things i liked:
1) Big Strong arm (he's a big guy in general)
2) Mobile in the Cam sense
3) good footwork when dropping back

Things I don't like:
1) Has a tendency to drop his head in pressure and run
2) a little bit antsy with pressure
3) Release could be quicker

Not the best matchup against the Texans, but i expect a lot of designed QB draw or read option plays (something we really have never done). With his slower release, a lot of throws in the middle of the field rather than outside unless we go deep. I expect them to try and put pressure and McD to counter with QB run plays rather than trying to throw it (opposite of Jimmy)

Jacoby drove a beat up Honda Civic at NC State. He'll be driving a luxury car Thursday. All he has to do is not crash it. He seems to do well with PA Roll outs. In McDaniels we trust.

Brissett needs to learn how to put touch on the ball. He's not going to learn that in 3 days though. It's typical of big armed rookies to think every pass needs to be a rocket.

agree on the footwork and poise

his receivers look like they suck

Our defense has to help him as well. Need to get pressure on osweiler. I was dissapointed with the pass rush on sunday.

FSU had so much more talent, so for him to show that much poise, in a hostile environment, pressured on every snap (it seemed like) was impressive. Thuney at LT (#54) was the only guy on their OL not getting beat like a rented mule.

This was really interesting, thanks! I've watched the entire 2014 game against FSU which was a much better game for him (32 of 48 for 359 yards, 3 TD's, no INT) and I can see the difference and perhaps an evolution. In 2014 he was constantly dragging defenders around (he looked like a poor man's Roethlisberger), extending plays, and making throws with defenders draped over him, he looked strong as an ox. In 2015 he really didn't do that very much, he tended to go down instead. He also threw it away much more in 2015. Interesting. I wonder if he was coached to not try to extend plays so much because of the danger of turnovers? Again, thanks for the link, it was very interesting to watch.

Yes, well at least he isn't a guy who has to have a perfectly clean pocket to play, he was running for his life against Florida State both in 2014 and 2015.

He looks pretty damn OK in that vid. Looking at that, I wonder how NE didn't score 21 while he was in the game. Those phantom penalties killed a few drives.

Thx though, my confidence overall vs HOU just went up a notch watching that.
