OK, but so what? As I said, I think Belichick lets certain things slide with certain players. Seymour has always been outspoken, and he continues to be, so my guess is BB doesn't have a problem with it. He lets some of his vets have more leeway than others.

I'm really surprised that this is bothering you so much. I read this story this morning and didn't think twice about it.

I'm not assuming anything, you are assuming the worst. I am pointing out that we don't know anything about the article. For all we know, which we really have no idea, BB could have said to Richard "you're one of my leaders, and you've had a tough year, it was my fault I played you at FB so you can do this article about your injury" I think it's way too cynical to ASSUME that Seymour was trying to lash out at BB in a roundabout way, or that he's making an excuse.

He was contacted by her, has permission to talk with the media, didn't discuss his injury at great length and said he respects his coaches and wants what's best for the team. She could have contacted his trainer, who probably doesn't care about or know about Pats policy regarding injury, and he was candid. Seymour didn't think anything about it, because they all talk to reporters all the time, and then she printed this. To assume that Seymour had some level of control over the message and timing of the piece or that Seymour's trainer is savvy to how relatively minor words can be misused by the media is without merit in my opinion.

I know let's go behind his back and do an article talking about Richard's injury and how it's BBs fault and then make sure they publish it the day before the first playoff game. Then we'll all be so angry that we'll lose the game"

I find this a little ridiculous.

That's irrelevant, unless you are standing straight up while leading on an Iso play...and if so, you shouldn't be in there.

Face it, it's a ridiculous statement. And I guarantee that when BB floated the idea of playing FB, Seymour was all for it.

Why are people so willing to believe this story...we all know she's a troublemaker. Look at the day of last year's first round playoff game as proof. She just likes to stir sh!t, because God knows the Boston media can't support a team without the words Red Sox in the name.

The trainer needs to STFU

What difference does it make if Seymour is bull rushing a 320 offensive lineman with other lineman and running backs falling on the backs of his legs or he is blocking a 280 defensive tackle with Corey Dillon hitting the back of his legs.

He could just as easily hurt his knee play DT, the chances are the same. Nobody forced Seymour to play FB.

You are very gullible if you believe that. The timing and the content of this article was controlled by Seymour and his representatives. For a player of his magnitude media access of this kind is managed very carefully. MacMullen was granted access to Seymour's longtime trainer because Seymour and his representatives wanted to get a message out. The message is: Seymour is a noble warrior fighting back from an injury caused by a coaching error. Seymour's dropoff in performance is due to the injury caused by that error.

Let's review:

Seymour was put in as a fullback

Seymour blocks, Dillon supposedly runs up his knees

Seymour gets a relatively minor cartilage injury

Seymour decides not to get surgery, and the injury doesn't heal.

Seymour aggravates the injury early the next season.

Seymour plays through the now worsened injury and is less effective.

Seymour finally has the surgery, but his rehab doesn't go as well as expected.

Seymour is feeling much better but is nowhere near 100%.

Seymour thinks he'll get back to being the amazing talent he used to be.


Now, out of all that, there is ZERO complaining by Seymour about BB. The only comment that's even remotely against BB is made by someone who would fit right into the idiotic negativity on this board.

The criticism of BB is ridiculous, but so is this:

It is Richard's job to do the best he can. I'm sure he is frustrated not to be healthy, and nopbody wants to play more than he does. It is the team's job to find the best players. If Green could do the job better than Seymour, don't you think BB would be plaing him?[/QUOTE]

"Get Rich to This". It's from a rap song. According to Asante's explanation in the Guregian article this year (wow! Guregian actually ASKED him what it meant! Not only did SHE get the tattoo wording right, she actually had the JOURNALISTIC ethos to ask him what it meant!) it means 'do it right, don't give less than 100% effort and you will be rewarded in all ways'. Asante went on to explain that MacMullen never asked him about the tattoo and never asked to see it. In her response to my e-mail, MacMullen said she HEARD about the tattoo from Patriot personnel.

Way to go Jackie Mac! Glad you are out there misinforming your readers and NOT backing down when called on it.

P.S. Jackie Mac divulged in her e-mail that the Samuel interview took place TWO WEEKS prior to it being published in the Globe on the eve of the first playoff game last year. Gotta love the purposeful timing! When I asked her about this, her response was, that was what Samuel asked for it to be in the paper right before the game (as if taking orders from a player and his agent on the timing of her journalism is the Boston Globe's job).
