Why close the thread on Jack Jones? It's is the biggest topic in the Football news, never mind Patriots headline. They just said on the news he will be sentenced for 2 1/2 years min. He gone.


Because the children in the other thread turned in it into spot to talk about their feelings and gun laws.

I don’t know anything about this law but it seems rare that any pro athlete serves anything close to jail time reported on news.

Why hasn’t he been cut??

What is going though some of these young guy's minds? You get drafted in the NFL, are a starter on the team, yet feel the need to go to an airport carrying fire arms? Did he really think security wasn't going to notice them in the scanning area?

This guy's career is over.

I think the real question is why is something that is completely fine and legal in most states in the country so draconian up north. Seems completely unnecessary

Let us not say up north. Let us say Massachusetts. The rest of New England has much different laws. Which of course makes it rather tough. In 30 minutes from Boston you are in New Hampshire, in an hour you are in Maine or Vermont, all of which have completely different laws than Mass does, and those pistols would be completely legal in each of those states.

Normally an arraignment is a 5 minute humdrum affair: "call the case, how do you plead, do you want a jury or non-jury trial, continue the bail at the same amount?"

There are 2 things to keep an eye on today. One, is there any update on the guns, were they purchased legally, were they previously involved in a crime,etc. The second thing is if the defense decides to tip it's hand on what they're going to argue: eg "I picked up the wrong bag, somebody put those guns in there", etc. Normally a defense lawyer would never do that because you're boxing yourself in, but if they're trying to win the PR game they might start today.

From Jack's perspective, I sure hope there's no bad news on the guns

It's been 5 years since his issue in CA. He was given 45 days house arrest as part of his plea bargain. It's unlikely there is anything remaining on it.

Right, I was not as clear as I should have been. The real issue for JJ is that the judge could consider the Panda incident a first offense making him a repeat offender with a second offense as opposed to a first time offender where the previous misdemeanor is not applicable.

I've said it before, with all his (and the NFL's for that matter) social justice posturing there is no way Kraft can be consistent and keep Jones on this team. UNLESS....there's spin that Jones had a broken childhood, lived in a box behind a Dollar Store, foraged dumpsters for food as a kid...that's the ONLY way (I don't know if this is true or not). Kraft is all about what the media and the aristocrats think of him. Kraft could take a stand and defend his player, but just like he bowed down to the media pressure r.e. Antonio Brown, I don't think it will be any different with Jack Jones.
