Is this the end of a potential Chiefs dynasty?

Chiefs are a great team, no doubt. With that said, the possibility of winning three superbowls in four years is now over and they will now need to win a superbowl and reset in order to do what few teams can do. Even if you don't consider 3 in 4 years a dynasty, they probably won't win 3 in 5 years and they have obviously won less than their talent should have won. Bill Belichick would have won 2 rings with that unit in their 4 year span. Maybe 3.

Is this the nail in the coffin of a chiefs dynasty?

There never was a dynasty. The GOAT took care of that in 2018 and last year. Now it is about whether Mahomes is broken. That was seriously the worst 2 1/2 quarters of football I have ever seen.

The chiefs time is up. That massive contract they gave Mahomes is gonna start hurting soon. Sure Mahomes has been clutch but in the second half he was downright bad.

They're really lucky they've had Mahomes/Hill/Kelce healthy for the last 4 years straight. No torn ACL or season ending injury which always seems to throw a wrench into great runs or kill seasons. Happened to the Seahawks. Happened to the Patriots at various points (Brady ACL after '07, Gronk injuries throughout the years). Packers also had a couple years with Rodgers injured.

I disagree. I think the Chiefs had dynasty potential. The pieces were there.

They just underperformed.
But that is the very definition of a dynasty. Making the plays to win in the biggest moments. Plenty of teams have talent. It is a matter of winning at all costs.

By its definition it is. They have won 1 title two years ago. They lost in the Super Bowl last year and now failed to make it to the game this year. So any chance of 3 titles in 4 years is impossible. I don't think many people really consider 3 in 5 years one continuous dynasty, but even then - do we really think they'll make and win the Super Bowl both of the next two years while their performance has declined year-over-year and Mahomes' cap hit is about to become exponentially more expensive?

If the 49ers don't pee down there leg Chiefs would be 2-4 in AFC and NFL title games with no SB wins. No dig on Mahomes or Reid they got their win and Mahomes will probably get another Reid too if he's still there for it. But let's not crown anyone the next Patriots no one else is gonna do that ever again.

They have won one title and wouldn't even have that if Jimmy G hadn't wet himself in the last ten minutes of the SuperBowl.
Their defense is bad because most of their cap goes to the other side of the ball. They got, what, one sack against a Bengals team that gave up 9 sacks last week. Mahomes still regularly, stupidly forces thing rather take what defenses give him. At this point in his career it is just who he is. His performance in the three and out OT series was atrocious and he nearly cost them the game in regulation. It's great when he gets lucky and that **** works out. It looks magical. But it is not a recipe for winning playoff games consistently. He has a lot of athletic talent, but he is overrated. This team will be in the mix. But they are no more a dynasty than the late 1990s Rams.

They still can be. The 49'ers were a dynasty and Montana won in 81 (two year gap) then 84, then a 3 year gap and went back to back in 88 and 89. So yeah you can go two years between titles and have a dynasty. But this was a really big blow if they want to be one.

Dynasty? Even Ricky Proel realized you need to win 2 SBs to be at least considered a dynasty.

That was on Jimmy G. Who a lot of people here still wanted to give up assets for in a trade and pay him 15-24 million per year even though he is mediocre and cannot stay on the field. Dodged a bullet on that one. No indication yet that Mac is clutch or can rise to the moment ina big NFL game. But unlike with Jimmy there is no evidence that he is not clutch.

8-18 55 yards, 2 int and 2 sacks.....

Well, I'll give them that they've been to 4 straight AFCC games, but they're only 2-2 in those games and 1-1 in SB's, including an absolute blowout loss which is no-no for a "dynasty". Without Hill they're an average team, he's by far their best player. I could see them maybe winning 1 more but no more than that.
