Is this the year that the Patriots drafting gets back on track? Looking objectively at the drafting of college players recent drafts have been middle of the road.
I would love to see a circa 2003 draft. As it sits now I expect 2 potential starters, 2 solid backups and a couple of special teamers.

I grabbed a draft magazine this weekend - it was funny looking back on last year's draft for each given team. I don't know why we have an expectation that every Day 1 pick and half the Day 2 picks should be immediate contributors. Look at all the other teams around the league - teams with much thinner rosters than us, and much less hope to win now than us - most teams who drafted last year were lucky to get one or two potential starters out of their draft.
That's the reality we are dealing w, maybe we were so spoiled by good drafting to realize it.
Last season we drafted a true stud, a building block for the defense of the future. We also have a bunch of guys with potential, Wheatley, Wilhite, Crable and O'Connell. I think we'll look back at the 08 draft as a great one in time, and the only guy who won't be on the squad in the coming years is likely to be Ruud.
I agree with John. 2003 was the last year that produced a consistently good crop from the 1st to the 7th rounds. Every draft since then has been mediocre to pathetically disgraceful.
If the FO (aka Billy B) doesn't hit home runs this year, then we can forget about any more championships for the rest of the Tom Brady/Belichick era.
