I disagree, because to my eyes, the defender stopped before the contact.
Allen was the player who was moving.
Jones lowered his shoulder and stood ground, to stop Allen from getting the 1st down.
Allen put his body on the line out of desperation. And led with his lowered helmet.
Then hit Jones, who was blocking his path.
Any QB, who becomes a runner is stupid, to not slide in that situation IMO.
Allen wants the 1st down, Jones doesn't.
I agree it was stupid but it is still the tackler's job to avoid spearing the ball carrier. We see this discussed almost every week.
