Is Brady actually choking?

Lets put it this way....if every team faced Brady with success like the Giants and Ravens have done the past several years,Brady would be far far away from elite.

Teams continue to try and duplicate what those teams are doing and Brady will continue to struggle against top defenses.

It's been a long time since Brady decisively defeated and tore apart a top notch defense......I think those days have come and gone for the Brady magic especially in big games against solid defensive fronts, now it's just a quest to survive those encounters without major injury and hope you can eek out a win with the other team turning the ball over.

Any athlete or soldier who is paralyzed by fear is choking. So,is any who, due to jitters, loses precision. All of the above are known to happen.

But if we look for clutchness that is more substantive than not-choking, neither the logical arguments nor the direct evidence for its existence are as clear.

I don't think it's choking...I think Brady is simply extroidanairre in the regular season and then struggles once a good defense comes to town and shows more desire to win,the Pats didn't have as much desire or tenacity to play 60 minutes as Baltimore did on Sunday.

Brady is going to be 36 next season......it won't get any easier

The Patriots have failed in the playoffs for the past 8 years to win a title because they forgot how to play hard for 60 minutes, when they do play 60 minutes no team can beat them.

Yup, a whole eight days!

The Texans were missing a big cog in that front 7 for quite a while,Brian Cushing

I think that loss of their captain and leader of the defense played a big role in their demise the last 2 months,it was covered up for awhile but eventually exposed as well as their QB who played worse by the week.

What about 49ers? wasn't that one of Bradys best half ever. It was class against best D in NFL

I was assuming people had some basic knowledge of sports and physiology.

I apologize for the error.

It would help if you understood your error before apologizing. Otherwise you just sound like a dbag.

So in your world a long time since means a long time if you don't include the examples you wish to overlook?

You want to talk about having bad luck after the tuck rule, and the Panthers kicking the ball out of bounds on a kickoff in a Super Bowl that probably would have went into overtime. Now, THAT'S luck on your part, especially the tuck rule, which they didn't give to Manning in the playoffs this year, BTW

Another way to look at it is that the other teams made plays. For example, the Ravens tipping Brady's pass at the line was not "bad luck." That was the Ravens making a play...same goes for the Tyree catch. The other team made a play.

What you described is the essence of making an excuse...not the "farthest thing from an excuse." How do you think the Ravens felt after losing to the Patriots in last year's Championship game? They had the winning touchdown DROPPED at the end...Lee Evans did not hold onto the ball like he should have...if he'd brought that ball in and held onto it for dear life, no way it gets swatted out of his hands IMO. Then the Ravens miss a 32-yard fieldgoal to tie it up and sent it into over time. Was that good luck the Pats were able to make it to the Super Bowl LAST YEAR?

And EVERY team has injuries every single year to some key guys...everyone. The Giants lost ALL of their starting CBs pretty much before the year started last year, for example.

Lastly, Brady has won Super Bowls with no-name receivers. In this game, Brady had more weapons at his disposal than most teams. This year, the Patriots finally had a running game. Brady gets more protection than most QBs too...it's ridiculous how much time he has sometimes. The Patriots had the #1 offense in the league this year, and you still want to complain? The Patriots scored a ridiculous 557 points in the regular season this year. One guy did not do that, even though Brady was the catalyst.

Face it, the Patriots were just outplayed in this game. That's all there is to say about it.

So many things completely WRONG in your post that I'm not even going to waste my time responding to everything in it.

Neither did I sign up on here to get into essay-length debates with dumbasses who call themself "Uncle Meat".

You sound like a bitter Giants or Jets fan at heart. Get your pathetic ass off a Patriots forum where you have 200+ posts trying to discredit them and make them look bad. It's sad.

It would help if you understood your error before apologizing. Otherwise you just sound like a dbag.

I was apologizing for assuming that you have both a brain and the willingness to use it.

Based on much evidence, that assumption was quite unjustified.

Its a young mans game.

Brady might get back and win another SB, but look whose sitting home? Manning and Brady are both mid 30's. Flacco is 27 and Kapernick is in his 2nd season.

When I see Brady sitting on the bench with his head down, I have to think that the hits are taking their toll physically and psychologically.

Don't remember the pillow fights between Weis and Brady in the early years? He was just as mopey with bouts of rage back then.

It's all perception. In the game in San Diego in 2006, Brady threw 4 picks and pulled a game-tying TD and deep ball out from where the sun don't shine after sucking all game long. People don't think of Brady as clutch anymore because he's good in the first three quarters too, and too often the game is well out of hand before he has a chance to march down the field. When the game isn't out of hand, it's because it's just not the Pats' day, and there isn't a lot that can be done about that.

So, if they would have had Cushing, how many points would you guess the Patriots would have scored in their 2 games rather than the 83 they did score?

To the clueless OP and anyone else supporting his nonsensical notion of Brady "choking": read this analysis and try to understand that there's more involved with quarterback play than one guy:

In their biggest game, the Patriots failed to measure up - Patriots - Boston.com

Quote:

If you can’t run the ball well enough against nickel, you’re going to need an extraordinary performance from your quarterback. And while it would be easy to point to Brady and say he should be able to do that, I’m not going to do it. He didn’t have enough weapons at his disposal and there were at least three key drops.

Deion Branch is a tremendous person and pro, but if he’s playing 47 percent of your snaps in the AFC title game at this stage of his career, you’re in trouble.

That’s not to absolve Brady; he should have been a little better. On the screen to Wes Welker on the second series, Brady was pressured and it was an awkward play, but he has to make a better throw with four blockers and three defenders in front of Welker.

On the next drive, Brady felt pressure but overthrew a wide-open Hernandez. He also missed throwing the ball in better places (once to Welker). On the first play of the final series of the first quarter, Brady had Hernandez down the right sideline one-on-one with safety Bernard Pollard, and Brandon Lloyd coming free on a crossing route. Brady held it for 7.28 seconds and took an unneeded shot from Haloti Ngata.

Brady had Hernandez one-on-one against linebacker Dannell Ellerbe on the failed third and fourth downs with about eight minutes left in the game. The last interception was on Brady. Overall, I had Brady for eight questionable throws/decisions, but 10 outstanding throws and decisions.

Terrific job by Brady creating space by moving away from the blitz right before halftime and then delivering a perfect pass to Hernandez . The pass Brady made on first down with 11:04 left — 12 yards to Lloyd from the opposite hash mark — was ridiculously good

Thanks.

As for your name-calling -- I've been called worse, sometimes by people who actually have some minor justification for doing so.

Brady and the entire offense choked again.

It's absolutely pathetic.

They scored 13 points. 13 ****ing points. The Jets could have did that.

We have the best QB in the league. The only reason we came up only 4 points shy of winning the SB last year is TB. When your only hope of winning a championship is dependent on a single player being perfect on every single play, you don't deserve to win. There were plenty of instances where Brady was imperfect during our SB years. The difference is he had a terrific supporting cast.

In summary, no he is not choking.

Thanks.

If it helped further your football education, you most certainly are welcome. I don't recall calling you any names, by the way -- you petulant ignoramus. Oh, there we go.

I see you have chosen to stick with the dbag approach. Good for you.

You make a good point. A couple of months ago the NFLN replayed the 04 SB against Carolina. While watching it and afterward, I couldn't help but think that Brady, though he played fairly well, was far from spectacular. My recollection was that he had played better than he actually did. But, his supporting cast, conversely, was much better than I remembered them being.

No! He choked! Don't you see? If Tom Brady doesn't perfectly compensate at every turn for the shortcomings of his teammates, the game-plan, injuries, bad weather, fan misconduct and the stock market -- and deliver PLAYOFF WINS -- he's a freaking CHOKER! No Super Bowl titles in the last several years! DAMN HIM!

it looks like you're getting dangerously close to writing JOKER in your tirades...cease and desist or you will hear from my lawfirm, Y. Knott Screwem and Associates....
