He can make deep throws - he is what they call a high effort thrower though.

If he gets his feet set - has some space to step into it - he can throw it 60-65 yards. But guys like Allen can be kinda scrambling around - going backwards and throw it 40 yards across the field.

This is totally normal - like Matt Ryan - Mac Jones is not really the biggest guy. I am amazed he even weighs 217 - looks more like 207.. People always get defensive when you point out Mac's only real flaw - lack of arm strength. But ask yourself who has a weaker arm then he does as an NFL starter? Matt Ryan? Jimmy G? Lamar Jackson? Kirk Cousins? I honestly don't know..

During this offseason I hope he works on his mechanics and physical strength to develop more power. Already he has pretty good mechanics according to Tom House.. But who knows - maybe there are still some low hanging fruit with regards to his throwing motion.

Clearly the Pats are the best team in the NFL. We have the best coaches, OL, rookie QB, RBs, secondary. We only lose for 3 reasons: 1. The other team got lucky; 2. We were unlucky; 3. The refs caused us the game. Oh, sometimes because of the weather but that goes to 1 and 2 above. This team could easily be 15-0 if not for these 3 reasons.

It def would have been nice if the Bills game wasn't so one sided with officiating in the first half. I mean just ticky tack penalties at critical times. Then refs decided 2 PF penalties in a row were too much

So the fact that he holds most of Buffalo's single season passing records, has a higher career rating than anyone on the list, and its not even close in any category somehow keeps him off a list of QBs that were never that good to begin with? lol

Nah. Bro he has a big arm. HIs ability to scramble is icing on the cake. His claim to fame is that he has the biggest arm in NFL. And yeah having a big arm matters - he can make any throw in any situation for any depth.

I said this before about Mac Jones. The reason he fell is 100% about his arm and 0% about his scrambling. Jones is not a threat to take it to the house. But if there is an opening he can easily run for a first down. His running ability is just above bottom tier - but perfectly serviceable for an NFL QB. Defenses won't scheme for Mac Jones running - but like a Baker Mayfield he can run for a fist down.

If Jones had an arm like Lawrence, Rodgers, Allen - not only would he have gone #1 - he would have been known as a generational pick and projected to outplay many of the greats.

I agree with this in large part. I think the issue for Mac though is it's questionable whether he has an NFL caliber arm not a cannon. He struggles to drive the ball consistently. And Bill and the coaches did not trust him at all to throw the ball in Buffalo even with the wind at his back. It's those things that are concerning imo.

lol, ya ok... which one of those 5 was better than Allen is right now? None of them was ever a better passer, and only Flutie could offer anything close to dual threat. Allen is the best they've had, and I hope he gets disillusioned there or has a contract dispute that takes him out of town.

Allen is a beast. His main weakness is that he sometimes becomes inaccurate and is not a great touch passer. But damn - I saw him hurdle a guy. Great arm - great athlete and fearless. But lets be honest Patriots have a good defense and he made them look hopeless and awful.
