Interesting QB scenario this offseason:

Let’s say the Bears wind up with the top pick, and they fall in love with Young. They think he’s another level above Fields and decide to package some picks for Fields.

Do you consider looking at Fields? You possibly send over this years first + some extra capital if needed. You then get a bit less capital flipped back over in return if you decided to trade Mac somewhere else. But still get some draft compensation ideally. (A second + some more?)

Again, this is all only in a scenario where the Pats decide they want to move on.

To give it a further answer - I’d rather stay the course with Mac and Zappe, even if Fields were to become available. Make a change at OC in the offseason and send Fatt packing, then let both of them compete in camp.

It’s not a scenario I’m opposed to. Nothing is clear to me though until I know he’s not coaching the offense next year. And ultimately, it won’t matter who we have under center until he is gone.

But you have to admit, going from Mac to Fields mobility wise is like going from a Buick Park Avenue to a McLaren F1.

While I preferred Fields to Mac on draft day, spending multiple draft picks for him now would tie NE's hands with respect to improving the overall talent level of the offensive personnel, which next to offensive coaching is the main limiter of the offense IMO, not precisely QB play. In other words, I think Fields could be a minor upgrade but at a major cost

Of there was a way to finagle it so that effectively we were swapping Mac for Fields…yes I’d make the trade.

If it cost extra in picks to get Fields than what we were able to get for Mac…no.

I’ve soured a bit on Jones.

Attitude and leadership ability are big question marks after watching this season.

Of course I would take Fields but this scenario isn't happening. The Bears would be idiots to do this.

No one would give multiple picks for the #8 pick suddenly unwanted.

You want NE to send this year's 1st round pick plus sweeteners for the 60% passer who lead his team to the worst record in the NFL?

Jimmy G, even though he's made of glass, would be the best option unless Timmy wants to come back.

The Bears will trade down with a QB needy team and stockpile more picks.

Chicago needs just about everything but especially OL.

The Pats have running backs coming out of the woodwork.

We are stuck with Noodle arm Jones.
