Not necessarily a good thing. Osweiler isn't the answer for them at QB by any stretch of the imagination, but he's still better than Manning at this point in their respective careers.

The hype on this guy is enormous right now. I hope Denver goes undefeated the rest of the way, so they go into the playoffs with Osweiler being unbeaten. He'll crumble as the postseason pressure mounts. It'll be sweet to hand him his first loss, just like we did to Big Ben.

I think this kid is given way too much credit. Basically they won because:


1. Broncos defense against our depleted offense

2. Officiating

3. Broncos run game against our depleted run defense – which was pretty bad without Collins, and then got even worse when Hightower went out.


We were up 21-10 on these fools. And without that muffed punt, Gronk and Hightower leaving the game, we wouldn’t be talking about this kid as a the second coming of Tom Brady taking over for Drew Bledsoe. For the most part, they couldn’t sustain drives, and kept on going 3-and-outs. With a healthy roster (even against their healthy roster), and without a fixed job by the officiating crew, we would have ***-raped them.

They definitely should. Manning this year has only been Manning in name. In his play he has been one of the worst QBs in the league. I think that Osweiler at this point is better. But not only that, Osweiler seems much more willing to play under center. That opens up their running game a lot compared to Manning. He can also run some. That coupled with them being able to play under center which opens up the zone runs, opens up the play action boots that Kubiak likes so much. So not only do I think that Osweiler is the better QB right now, he makes the offense much more balanced and versatile in what they can do. They don't need to rely on the QB like they do with Manning in the shotgun.

And to clarify. Better than Manning does not mean elite QB, or very good. Just that Manning right out sucks this year. So even decent is a big improvement.

I bet that's what the 2004 Steelers thought too. It worked out well for them in the long run, but not that year.

Not too many first-year starters lead a team to the Super Bowl, least of all win, especially not when they start in the middle of the year. In the last 30 years or so, only ones I can think of are Brady, Warner, and Kaepernick, and of those only Brady and Kaepernick stepped in (and even then, it was after a couple games) during the season, and only Brady ultimately won (though Kaepernick came very close).
