Inside the most dysfunctional Pats season under BB

Anyone who said that is a moron. And that’s even without using 20/20 hindsight. The physical traits are off the charts with Lawrence and he’s made huge strides, mentally, with even more room to grow. But if you DID want to use 20/20 hindsight, Mac slid multiple times before the first down marker on key third downs this season. On a key third down against the Chiefs, Lawrence lowered his shoulder and ran through the tackler. That says a lot.

I am not at all addressing the main topic, but on the topic of sliding before the marker and Lawrence v. Jones, I'd make several points. One, Lawrence did that in a playoff game where the stakes are do or die. Mac in the last game did the same thing. BUT... Mac put his shoulder down for a 1st down earlier in the year and he got clobbered in the head. The announcers were openly wondering--post the Tua affair--why the meds didn't send Mac to the tent to be checked for a concussion. It was AFTER this game that Mac slid before the marker. You can bet that he was told any number of things by the coaches, that he'd be removed if hit like that again, that it wasn't worth it, etc.

Thanks for the post. ALL Kraft companies, there are lots, are required to present a yearly business plan, strategy, and budget. What you outline above is not a business plan or strategy

I am not saying the plan was good, and it very very bad, but every Kraft company has a plan presented to the Kraft family management team. Lots of people do not think there was a bridging plan, which is fine, but everyone who says there was not a bridging plan, can not offer what plan was put in place.

It is easy to criticize, hard to figure things out.

I'm talking about his plan for filling the vacant OC position. It was the same plan he followed when there was a vacant DC position: install 2 ppl within the org. that he trusted, 1 F&F + 1 other.

DC role: Steve (F&F) + Flores/Mayo
OC role: Patricia (F&F) + Judge

He thought it would work.

But bringing back a retread in O'Brien isn't exactly stopping the dysfunction. Media seems to love this hire and completely ignoring who he worked with in NE and the weird sh*t he did in Houston to implode.

The bad **** BoB did in Houston came after he assumed the GM role. That's not happening here, not for a long time at least.

The dysfunction continues. This is where the players need to grow a pair, stop talking to the media as anonymous and take it up with Bill if you have a problem with Judge. If Bill won't do anything, then you set up a meeting with Bob.

Interesting article given some of the quotes and specifics but most of it wasn’t particularly new. Everyone already deduced that the offense was chaos and the players didn’t trust the coaches.

I agree, BB thought it would work, or at least not regress.

OK, how about a small or abbreviated plan? You do not think a bridge plan was proposed, so what do you think was proposed? Previously you wrote, and I quote, the plan was "He put Patricia-Judge in charge of the offense w/o OC titles." That is not a plan. I can guarantee that BB did not go to the Kraft family management team with a single PowerPoint slide that said "Let's put Matt Patricia and Joe Judge in charge and not give them titles, TADA, that is it, finished, over and out".

Do you have anything more? Or just never ending criticism? It is OK to be transparent and say I really do not know what a plan outline would look like.

Yeah, that works well for maybe two or three teams in any given season and guarantees nothing. Seriously, if you think having an elite quarterback is the only path to success you're going to be disappointed more often than not.

Guarantees nothing, except for things like 5 straight trips to the conference championship.

"Only path to success" isn't a fair statement either because no one is arguing that. Again, it obviously takes a team, but most often an elite quarterback or elite quarterback play is needed for a team to get to and win a Super Bowl. 25 of the last 30 Super Bowl winning quarterbacks fit this description. That's a convincing 83%. You're ignoring the facts.
