Inside the most dysfunctional Pats season under BB

Just read the article. Ouch. They need to tuck Patricia away in some dark corner of the stadium if BB really wants to keep him around (Gimp style). Judge on the other hand needs to be told "You leave town tonight, right now, and when you're gone, you stay gone, or you be gone. You lost all your Foxboro privileges."

I agree. During training camp Bedard predicted a 7 win team after witnessing and hearing stuff. Of course, he got blasted here because BB, the genius, knew what he was doing. I've been saying this over and over, Bill will be 71 in 2.5 months (closer to 72 by Thanksgiving). This teams record in Dec-Jan since 2019 is:

2019: 2-4 (Brady - McDaniels)
2020: 2-3 (Cam - McDaniels)
2021: 2-4 (Mac - McDaniels)
2022: 2-4 (Mac - Patricia)
That's 8-15 (.348)

It's just too consistent. IMO, Bill hasn't done anything since Dec 2019 to inspire confidence in his ability to turn this franchise around. We can hope that BoB can make a difference, but from the above, it didn't matter who the QB or OC was.

I know I'll be accussed of being anti-Belichick. The record speaks for itself. This past season is just more proof. He's lost it.
And this topic aged extremely well.

You said that the players quoted in the article were hanging Mac out to dry. How did I misread that?
You go on a tangent of me being "anti Mac" when that had nothing to do with what I was talking about. In fact, I was sticking up for him. Mac was specifically named in the article by "anonymous sources", so the media is going to ask him about that. I didn't think that was too difficult to understand.

This is an interesting point? Has it been confirmed or mentioned anywhere how the team stands on this? I was kind of thinking BOB would resort back to the Patriots offense that he's most familiar with, or possibly go with a hybrid scheme. I mean are they really going to roll out that same trash from last season and just hope that BOB gets the play-calling right (unlike fatso)?
Definitely hasn’t been brought up in the media yet. Would be a good topic for one of them to explore in the next few weeks.

“Rolling out the same trash from last season,” obviously isn’t the intention — this has been a successful offensive approach for some time; the article made it clear that Patricia and Judge didn’t understand it and that’s likely part of why it failed here. They had no direct experience with that offense. Neither does BOB, to my knowledge. But having direct experience isn’t a prerequisite; Josh had no prior experience with the extreme shotgun spread offense he got from Urban Meyer, and BOB had no direct experience working with 2 TEs and working with a hurry up offense they stole from Oregon. The difference is Josh and BOB had lots of experience and success on offense so they could figure it out on their own. Patricia and Judge had very limited experience on offense, and to the extent they did (Judge), it was unsuccessful. So maybe it’ll work with BOB implementing it.

Time to stop teaching an offense they aren’t a master of. They won’t be running the Shanahan offense any time soon, unless Kyle or his understudies coach in New England
They weren’t a master of Urban Meyer‘s system or the Chip Kelly system either, until they were. If the people in charge of implementing it don’t know how to run an offense, they won’t be able to implement anything. That said, I do agree that, if they do intend to continue to run it, it would make sense to add *someone* to the coaching staff with experience in it, even a position coach. Can’t hurt right?

So maddening!
We ALL knew it, we ALL knew it before the season began.
So, why on earth is BB so stubborn and prideful that he didn't at least can Judge during the season when it was clear he was useless and causing issues all over the place? MP was bad enough, but it sounds like Judge was actively ruining things. BB says he doesn't like to make changes mid-season... well so what! Your owner is losing millions because you don't want to embarrass some leach. Really causes legitimate concerns of BB's priorities.
Not to mention, would let them (JJ & MP) keep Bourne in the doghouse most of the year to support a lame duck asst. coach???

With Bob being on the College circuit I am sure he's seen these TE prospects Michael Mayer - Dalton Kincaid and Darnell Washington it should be quite tempting.
Sure, but so many other needs. OT - will they pony up for Orlando Brown or McGlinchey? Doubt it.

CB? Will Jon Jones be back?

I truly don't get how Belichick ever thought this could work. It seems like everyone but him, Judge and Patricia pegged it as a crap show from the jump outside a couple token simps. Unreal.
A lot of it was hubris

And the worst thing is that he would have gotten away with it if they snuck into the playoffs.

Orlando Brown or McGlinchey would give us nice book ends to pair with Mount Brown. We have Three Fourth Rounders to fill some Needs. We have done historically well with Fourth Rounders. I don't mind a Offensive Tackle early one but I want one of those young TE's also.

BB said openly that we haven't been Big spenders in FA Hmmmm. Mac needs things a little perfect a proven vet @ Right or Left Tackle would work wonders.

Speaks volumes to the defense that we controlled our own destiny going into the final week. What a friggin **** show!!!

How is it that the Hammer of Thor has the insight for this yet Bill Belichick didn't?

Zo thinks one of them is a player who was here for both the "good" times when Brady was here and the rougher times since.
To guess who the source is you need to simply ask yourself who benefits from this the article the most?

The answer is pretty simple. I think the main source for it is Mac himself. There isn’t a better way for him to remove all the blame from himself and put everything on the two coaches that are leaving. But that’s just my opinion.

It will be interesting to see if Patricia or Judge will defend themselves or not.

That's why I have speculated that Patricia/Judge might've been BB's late fallback option when his first choice(s) fell through. Maybe someday we'll know if there was a reasonable explanation or that BB truly did lose his mind.
Agree. I think that was what happened. Same deal with when he hired Schiano and when he bailed he fell back to BB Jr and Mayo.

Problem is there are 343 more qualified/pot'l OCs than Jabba the Matt. Caley for one.

The plays worked fine for Zappe.

The receiver was open on many INTs.

Joe Judge leaving 1 Patriot Place.

"As Patricia came under outside fire as the face of the offense, Judge drew increasing criticism from within. Belichick would blast him in practice, and it wasn’t uncommon for Judge and Jones to trade profanity-laced outbursts. Jones’ trust in his position coach was effectively non-existent."

“Mac didn’t like him,” one source said. “At all.”

“Sometimes I would wonder, like, are we trying to screw this up on purpose?” one source asked.
Judge is toxic.
