Carolina signed Cincinnati LB Landon Johnson to a 3-Year deal. They say he will challenge Na'il Diggs for a starting spot.

This could mean they are less likely to match an offer sheet on Seward, or even that they believe he could be leaving.

Where do you come up with such obviously wrong notions? Is it a failure of reading comprehension or do you just not bother to actually think this stuff through?

Its exactly what you said. You are arguing you prefer not to spend the 5th on this guy, and in the middle of it you say you dont know enough about him to know if he is worth more than a 5th. Do you read (and comprehend) YOUR OWN posts?

That's not what I said, and I'm not making an argument about personally having a preference, because I don't know enough about the guy to have one. That's what I mean by lack of comprehension.

If the Pats like Seward enough, they might sweeten the pot a

little (4th instead of 5th or extra 7th) and make a trade with

Carolina. This way they would be sure of getting him and could

move on to other matters.

Rumor floating around Boston as we speak is that BB has made it very clear to Seward that he's in his plans for next year if he signs.

The one thing that he has, is speed. God knows we need it.

I am in Boston, I haven't heard this yet.

It was on the Sports show as I came in. They've not announced his signing or even disclosed what terms were offered.

I heard similar stuff on my way to work but they didn't really elaborate on it so it is tough to tell how much truth their is to it. could have been speculation or could have had source but I couldnt tell.

Given that such a conversation would take place with four parties - Belichick, Pioli, Seward, and possibly Seward's agent - we know two won't talk, and Seward would be out of the picture if he did. And hard to trust an agent's version, given his goal of stoking up interest in his client.

Why should the NEP sweeten the pot any more than it already is? If Carolina has indeed signed Landon Johnson, then they'll probably be glad to receive the 5th-rounder for Seward, never mind a 4 or a 5 +7. Heck, I'm hoping that the FO can convince the Panthers to take a 6 in a trade.
