They didn't give a link, but going back a page or two (should have checked first), I noticed Mike Reiss had penned the following, on 4/01/08:

Belichick also noted "it's possible" that the team could still sign restricted free agent Adam Seward to an offer sheet.

Slow offseason + too many people who think that Mike Vrabels grow on trees = ridiculous hype of a player that couldn't crack the lineup of the Carolina Panthers' mediocre linebackers without other players getting injured.

We still have two glaring holes at LB. OLB and ILB. Vrabel and Thomas with Tedy coming in for several plays are our LB's as of right now.

We need a young guy in the middle and presumably a speed rusher on the outside.

If we plugged in Seward in the middle and took a Gholston, Groves or Long for the outside you drastically reduce the age of your LB's and add some speed and youth into it.

Still not counting the fact that Seau might still come back or any extra depth we may or may not have from lower round drafting players. The Crable's, Goff's and Avril's of the draft.

True...but having an offer sheet for him is a start...I do think JS will return..but I agree that 5th LB is really needed..having 3 inside and 3 outside would be great esp with the age/injury factor.

First off, some of us think that it could be an important signing.
If he signs, that is.
Secondly, it's a slow news period.
And thirdly, if you don't want to read it, than don't.
But if you have nothing nice to say, than STFU.
There have been 100 dumber threads than this one.
All you people coming to this thread to ***** about it still being around are only bumping it back up.
By coming here and complaining about it, you make yourselves look like tools.
So, I'll repeat: If you don't like this thread, don't post in it.

several pages are of people like you saying this thread should be dead and several more pages are of people bumping this back to the top because they find it funny this as gotten so much attention and find it funny that people are annoyed by it. Not to mention there were two threads that were started on seperate but related stories to this pottential signing and the mods needlessly merged it. Creating the mega thread on something minor that has still not even happened.

Why is it such a bad thing if a random thread goes on for 52 pages, anyways? Does it honestly offend anyone's moral sensibilities? I've seen 500 page threads (stayed on first page for over 3 years) on other boards that had far less of a point than this one.

As you analyze this thread's staying power, don't forget the influence of us frustrated draftniks who hope that the Pats will sign Seward just to make all those hours of our life wasted making mocks for the 2005 draft seem worthwhile. I have a Vrabel tree in my backyard. It produces fabulous Vrabels. We often have them for dinner.
