If you could add any player in the NFL to the Pats...

Surprised no one has said Devin Hester. Considering our offense is among the greatest ever (or at least was not long ago), and we have always had a strong defense under BB, could you imagine if we also had the best special teams in the league? Hester single handedly makes your special teams feared and dangerous.

My choices:

1. Devin Hester
2. Ed Reed
3. Adrian Peterson
4. Demarcus Ware
5. Patrick Willis (could you imagine Willis and Mayo?)

I'm going to branch this topic out a bit to a topic that I've been wondering about for some time, but I don't have enough posts to start a new thread myself....

So, if you could add any player in the NFL OR another professional sport to the Pats, who would it be?

I'll start a trio of the most obvious: LeBron James - would be be a RB? TE? WR? Would it matter? It would just be fun to watch...

Dwight Howard. Suddenly Randy Moss becomes the #2 Redzone target....

Usain Bolt - not really sure if this woudl work given the number of pure burners and combine warriors that can never become good WR, but it would be fun to watch a CB give a 30 yd cushion...

I am surprised that this name has not been said.

Haynesworth.....he would make one heck of a 3-4 DL.

I think I am on the OLB train though and would go with D-Ware.

On offense Maybe Hutchinson because he is the best run blocker in the league and would help protect Brady.

one more name not mentioned that would be rediculous in this offense with Brady and Moss would be Westbrook (especially the Westbrook of a few years ago).

Considering the main need for this team is OLB, there is only one player to go with, Demarcus Ware.

Noone needs to be added to this offense and most of the positions on defense have been filled with free agency or the draft except for OLB and Ware already plays in a 3-4 defense so he won't need long to adjust to the Pats system.

To me, he is only the player I would take if salary wasn't an issue.

I'm not shocked at the players people are picking, but I would go a different direction. Calvin Johnson is the player to get.

Any of these three...

D.Ware
Justin Tuck
Pat Willis

Assuming Haynesworth stays healthy, I'd pick him and not look back. He doesn't just clog the middle...he destroys it. No DT/NT in the game compares.

Hutchinson made Shaun Alexander and he's making Adrian Peterson. He's John Hannah v2.0, at least in the run game.

I cannot even use the "stays healthy" clarifier with Westy because it's so unrealistic at this point. He's got a bone-on-bone condition in his knee and is always getting serious dings elsewhere. The one thing I do like about him is that he's one tough mofo. Considering the handful of games he has missed over the last few years, everyone else would have missed even more. Cracked ribs? Flack jacket time. The guy must have a ridiculous tolerance for pain...right up BB's alley.

Regards,
Chris

DeMarcus Ware would top my list for defense followed by Ed Reed, Troy Polamalu, and James Harrison.

For offense, it has to be Adrian Peterson. The guy is so dominant. Followed by Andre Johnson, Steve Smith, and Joe Thomas.

Yeah My real picks would be Haynesworth on De and Hutch on O but I just think Westbrook in his prime would be a richmans K. Faulk and Faulk has meant so much to us it would be crazy to see Westbrook. But your right not now.

Demarcus Ware. He's an outstanding linebacker who would crank up the Pats passrush and round out the roster perfectly. But obviously he's going nowhere.

Wow, no Antonio Gates?

Moss Welker Galloway and Gates. Brady would have a field day. Instead of getting an LT like Joe Thomas or Clady, I'd just get a couple of back up Linemen to line up in the backfield as "RB's" to make sure that Brady has all day to throw to those four guys!

Defense:

Nmamdi A.

I'm surprised to see Joe Thomas on here so much. He was pretty bad last year.

As for who I'd take, Reed, AP and Ware would all be great choices.

Easily Demarcus Ware for me

the guy is unstoppable

if healthy, I'll take merriman.......he does more in coverage and versus the run than ware

on offense? jason witten

DeMarcus Ware is a much better player than Merriman.

If you're picking for the current roster, then you have to pick a player at the position where we're weakest (no safeties or cornerbacks).

Defense:

Ware
Beason

Offense:

Andre or Calvin Johnson, Fitzgerald
