I drink coors lite during games. I keep a Harley Davidson beer bucket next to my chair with 6 beers in it ( ice of course). The beers get replenished as the game goes on. Im usually hammered by games end. I scream obscenities at the TV and just generally go nuts. Years ago when I smoked I would be outside the door puffing like a lunatic watching the game from 20 feet away. The more excited I got, the more I smoked and drank. I'm surprised I didn't have a stroke. I live in California where the Pats games usually come on at 10 am. I'd be drunk of my ass by noon.

I'm not any more mellow during games, but I did quit smoking!

We must be twins........ I've never smoked and I don't live in CA. But everything else is spot on.

I'll be at home........ ALONE (for the most part).

My wife (whose a casual fan) will be home whether or not she watches will be dictated by the game itself (as judged by ruckus I'm making). She is smart and intuitive enough to know when to leave me alone, or to come in and celebrate joyfully with me when things are going well. She doesn't even need to ask... just knows after many years of this. I truly love her for that

The only other people I would be comfortable watching the game with would be with other family members that aren't around (most of my family lives in ME or FL). I have good friend that is a Pats fan (not as diehard as me though). He asked me over to a party he's having and assured me he's only having Pats fans or other neutral fans and their wives.

I thanked him, but ultimately can't live with that. He thinks I'm crazy to prefer watching it alone...... I'm actually looking forward to it.

Great thread. I feel less crazy. Or maybe more. I don't know.

I agree, can't stand watching with anyone else. My wife tries to be sweet and encouraging when we're losing but that only makes me angrier somehow. Fortunately, she's going out for dinner with some girls from work so it'll just be me and the cats and a ton of food and beer.

I'm kind of superstitious about beer. I won't ever drink certain beers during games if we've lost while I'm drinking them. I have lucky beers from successful seasons. I stocked up yesterday on 4 different "lucky" beers and the plan is to switch from one to another if we start struggling during one type of beer.

This is why I'll be drunk at halftime making fun of Madonna and Eli's goofy big head and Rex Ryan/Cromartie/Sanchez/Holmes and Brett Favre's tiny little...pride. I apologize in advance for that.

What people need to realize when your home team is playing in the super bowl is that not everyone qualifies to be invited over to your house. It's not about family and friends, it's about being a good enough fan to be invited over.

This isn't personal, it's just a day for pure football, nothing else. No yakking about non-game issues cuz no cares. Focus on the game needs to be 100%.

This is about life & death, joy or heartbreak...and I don't have the patience for any bullsh1t.

I have absolutely no problem with any fan who roots for the Giants on Sunday.

...Just as long as they vacate New England by SunDown.

If you live in New England and root for the Giants, you don't deserve to live in New England....

Hear that Connecticut??!!!!

I've been invited to many parties for this weekend. All my friends are rooting against the pats. As much as I would hate to be there for a loss I'd love to be there for a win just to rub it in if they lose well lets not talk about that. Also I threw a party for the game that shall not be named needless to say I punched a giants fan in the face. Felt good man.

Hopefully it was a guy....

So the shocking revelation of this thread is that those of us here —who so often weigh in on the game threads on the board — prefer to watch games by ourselves. You don't say.

I am definitely a solo watcher. I can totally relate to convertedpatsfan's comments about the wife: Mine does the same thing a lot of times, and her timing is ALWAYS bad, but lately she's learned to kind of lie low. After the game I'm obviously happy when the Patriots win — especially Super Bowls — but I do try not to let a loss affect how I treat others; perspective and all.

One thing I do that apparently is different from others here: In big games, I find myself guzzling water. Yup, I skip the alcohol; weird, I know. I just feel like I'm so tense that I could easily pound way too much to enjoy the game or act like a human afterwards.

Iam always a solo watcher and this time Iam in India with no channels showing the game as far as I know and stuck with online streams over not so fast internet connection and this forum

My memo to everyone... Shut the **** Up and don't bother me while i'm watching the game.

I drink either Monster sugar free or Bucklers non-alcohol beer. Stopped drinking years ago due to the pesky Irish allergy known as alcoholism!

Guys are the same the world over when watching sports!!

Im going to my friends house to watch the Superbowl though. Hes a massive Bears fan but must be one of the few neutrals whos rooting for the Pats. Its funny, hes a Rangers and yankees fan so we have great banter regarding the Hockey and also Baseball but share the same view on Football.

Hes actually brilliant to watch it with because he misses nothing on the field -whenever theres a flag and i have missed it he calls is straight away which relieves about 3 seconds of tension!!

The annoying thing about watching the game over in Scotland is that its on soooo late - therefore you have to shout/scream/dance about/throw things all at about 10% of natural intensity out of consideration to the neighbours.

Its frustrating as hell.

His wife is also heavily pregnant so want to make sure that i respect her need for sleep - routine. She will be banished to the other room though - absolutley no chance of her being allowed to watch it.

Normally my wife watches with me but she hates the game - a massive Soccer fan like me though so knows the ups and downs of supporting a team. Therefore knows how to treat/understand me when the Pats have lost. As a nurse though she is working nightshift therefore wont be able to try and watch it with us!!

She keeps mocking me this week " i feel sick, i feel sick" apparently in homage to my repeated statements in the last 2 minutes against the Ravens. To be fair to me though, i was feeling bloody sick!!

I will not watch with Giants fans, or anyone rooting against the Patriots.

For me it is like inviting hecklers to a baptism. No way. Not fun. Not funny. Just awful.

This is the best thing I've ever read on this forum

Hey you turkeys! Instead of getting annoyed by physical company get annoyed by the PatsCast crew! We'll be hosting a SB46 livechat over there. And yes, we'll be drinking.

Aye! You bro in Scotland as soccer fans you guys can post your ratings of Giants players flopping feigning injuries to slow down the Pats no huddle offense for player substitutions

Great thread. I also prefer to watch the games alone, not just SB but regular season and even pre-season.

The superbowl party tradition with the commercials, the half-time all seem to try to appeal to people who don't want to watch THE GAME.

I also DVR and start late to skip commercials and rewind plays for second and third looks. I drive anyone else in the room nuts with that anyways.

I'm in a bit of a quandry. Watched the first 3 at home with only my fragile 90 some odd year old mom who was a hardcore red sox fan and never really got football but loved Tommy...

Mom passed late in 2007. Watched 42 there alone... Outcome wasn't good. House was sold and torn down for boxy condos in 2008. Not sure if that was good or bad omen going forward. Mixed bag at the new apartment alone... Brady goes down, one and done twice. Stopped posting on game threads because of negativity...

Had to house/dog sit for friends during the divisional round. Although at least that got me off the hook for idiotic 40th surprise birthday party at a K of C for my patsfan godson... One is a die hard red sox fan trying to get into patriots/football (although habit of traveling on important fall and winter Sunday's doesn't bode well). Spouse is barely casual sports fan. Friend texted me in game how it was looking good from sports bar in NYC where they were watching just before an effing turnover. Texted back do not text me ever again during a game you friggin' jinx. No calls, no texts, no observations, no predictions...

Still, they invited me to watch AFCC game with them. I bolted like shot out of a cannon when Woody coughed up the rock on that return. We held on defense during my brief ride home with Gil and Geno. Then with a little assist from Myra we sealed the deal as I watched alone on the edge of my couch in my own little hovel complete with non HDTV.

They are insisting I come for a just the three of us Superbowl Party. I have warned them that where I start (plan A) is not necessarily where I will finish (plan B) and I will make necessary in game adjustments as warranted. They remind me they know that now. I have just sent them a link to these rules since both are OCD and prone to blathering about non related ****, asking procedural football questions, dog distraction, taking calls rather than allowing the answering machine or voice mail to do it's job, launching into discussions about future trips and home improvement projects ad nauseum, etc.

So I will do my part and start where they've won and finish wherever the game dictates... Hoping I don't have to start looking for new friends and/or a new apartment next season or attempt watching playoff games on an ipad from a cemetary...

Some creative writer should compile (with permission) these hardcore fan scenarios

Good watching, Mo!

Very, very heavily.

It almost annoys me that people don't understand why I take this game so seriously. Even other Patriots fans I know don't understand why, so maybe they aren't true fans? Or Maybe it's just me wanting nothing to do with people during the game.

This girl that likes me asked to watch the Super Bowl with me. I've already declined a few other offers from friends who are having parties on Sunday. There is no way in hell I'm watching the Super Bowl with anyone that doesn't care about the game or that could cause distraction. A couple people said that I was a fool to decline watching the game with this girl (who knows nothing about football and i've only known for a couple weeks). The last thing I'm doing on the Patriots Super Bowl Sunday is entertaining random people. It's going to be me and maybe my brother watching the game

One of the problems with having a SB party is too many people snort your cocaine.

I must be crazy .. I am taking the fam into the lions den.. My coworker holds a party..a house full of giants fan and non football watchers(who would root gaints just to spite me )...
allready stated the second half I will be watching at home.

If they trash talk my wife warned me.. we are out of there.. in case we have the DVR running at home.
As an alternate I will try to crash his neighbours party, who are big patsfans(But I dont know them)..
:rocker:

Wish me luck!
