If patriots lose out, Travis Hunter could be theirs

If we sign Higgins, why do we need McMillan? We do not need two tall slow guys. We have to see McMillan's stats from the combine - can he be a 4.4 guy? I don't think so. I think you misinterpret posters comments about McMillan. He is a great prospect and possibly a high consolation prize, but guys like Hunter are rare. Higgins and Hunter would be amazing.
If we get Higgins, big If, and we end up drafting 5th and Hunter not available it's not the same level of loss it would have been to miss out on Maye. Maye was almost guaranteed to be great. Hunter is almost guaranteed to be good and might be great.

Hunter's ability to play CB makes him worth adding to Higgins, but otherwise I'd look at defense or O line if you were in that situation.
Banks, Campbell, Williams vs Carter or Graham. I think there are 10 prospects that might be pretty close so you could even trade down a bit and get the guy you want.

I could see a scenario where you can trade down and back up and end up with Josh Williams and Emeka Egbuka, or Josh Williams and James Pearce.

Getting #2 pick will open up a ton more options, just doubting they get the #2 at this point.

This coaching staff only does one thing well, finding a way to lose. I am not pessimistic about the losing out on the #2 pick.

I do like Graham as well as Hunter. McMillan might be a game changer if his combine stats are good, but I am sure he is a Top 10 guy. Otherwise the guys you listed do not look like world beaters, but I have not watched a lot of tape yet. Hunter as a WR and then a limited amount of 3rd downs at CB would be a game changer IMO. Reed from the Jets in FA, plus Gonzo, plus Hunter intermittently, solves a lot of problems, but we still need a pass rush.

SEPARATION is the key word here. THAT is what we need in this WR group. I'm sure Tet is a fine player but NOT worthy of a #2 pick. I think your analysis is dead on here. Speed is less of a thing than separation. Cupp and Puka BOTH are 4.5. 4.6 kind of guys coming out of college, but somehow they both manage to get great separation on the field. So THAT skill is what we need to be looking for in our search to develop the WR room.

Yep, I’m out on MacMillan. They need receivers who get open, not guys to throw jump balls to.

Otherwise the guys you listed do not look like world beaters,
I agree, but not many of those in this draft.
Some good players with potential.
I'm not sure the hit rate after the 2nd round will be very good, thus the idea to try and get 2 firsts somehow and get 2 good potential starters.

WOW!

two first (presumably including one in the top 10) AND two good potential starters!

That's a lot to ask from this draft.

Not necessarily in the top 10. Abdul Carter can be had maybe at 7, Josh Simmons or Egbuka at 22-25. We have a high 2nd round pick and two threes', we should be able to move up into the 20's and there are a couple guys that should be there.

This is another item showing how important wide receiver separation is for an offense
The Bottom 9 offenses for Expected Points by offense are all below the 0.2 separation average. The top 9 are all on the positive side outside the Chiefs and Bills. Mahomes and Allen making up the difference.
Of course, this can be accomplished by talent and/or OC.
FYI is a typo, supposed to say "can separate" not "can't separate."
I wonder where Chargers and Pats would be if we traded Polk for Ladd.

The Bills have clinched the division, but cannot catch KC. So they will likely rest a lot of players in the finale.
You are correct here and unfortunately Balt can’t catch them if they beat NYJ this Sunday. That will make week 18 Buffalo’s bye.

I will be pissed if we win week 18 in a meaningless game over Buffalo.

Lot of discussion today on the radio regarding who deserves the MVP. IMHO Lamar deserves it but the voters will say it is Allen’s “turn” and he will win it.

You take a stern approach with McMillan but not Campbell? The fat mediocre tackle who will be pushed to guard in the nfl. No way do we want that guy at 2 overall.

a bit harsh, but probably right

Campbell won't be drafted by the pats.

Posters are so obsessed with lineman they don’t even take the time to critique them. Some of these lineman listed SUCK. Would be disastrous for this franchise to take them over an electrifying playmaker like Hunter

I’m not drafting at 2 in that scenario. If Campbell’s arm length comes under 33 then he’s a guard but if over he’s considered a good tackle prospect.
I haven’t watched much tape on these guys yet, just going off the consensus from guys I respect and some minimal research of my own.

Watched tape on a few wide receivers so have a more personal opinion on some of those guys,

Once Pats pick is set I’ll look into more prospects if they are not at 2.

Will Campbell Career Stats

In summary:
- 38 games played.
- 2,546 snaps at LT
- 1,593 pass plays
- 3 sacks allowed (0.2%), so about 1 sack allowed every 500 pass plays, roughly 1 every 10 games

Those are insanely good numbers for someone playing in the SEC. Calling this "mediocre" says more about the person saying it than it does about the player. I see no reason to make **** up about a guy like Campbell or any other player just because you have your heart set on them drafting a WR.

The sad fact here, however, is that if his arms are less than 33 inches, he will JIMHO have a hard time making it at OT in the NFL. Above 33 inches and I think he’ll be top 15 and possibly top 10. I’m hoping for the best for the kid, irrespective of what happens on measurables, but unless his arm length surpasses the scuttlebutt I would not feel great about him as a top 5 or 10 pick for the Pats, and probably not as a top half of the first round pick for them (if that's how things work out with a trade down). I'd prefer in that scenario that they pick someone with a better chance at being a star, irrespective of position (except QB).

So you agree with me he is not the first round pick for the patriots at number 2 overall. Good.

Yes he is a mediocre tackle because he won’t be playing that in the NFL. You don’t draft guards at number 2 overall, which again you agreed with me.

Who ye of so little fate...a Mayo Coached Team would find a way to lose if the other Team forfeits. We don't have Albert Einstein as HC here.
