If patriots lose out, Travis Hunter could be theirs

"If the Top 7 teams did not win another game. Would we drop below some of them because of the SOS since we would be playing Buffalo twice and the Chargers who have good records."

i wonder/fear that too. can anyone do the math assuming the chargers and bills win out, what our sos would be so i know who to root for.

Much of the value of Hunter presume that he will be able to play 20 games a season at two positions. Who was the last top player to do this? For me, I'd rather have a really top player at ONE position plus another pick or two.

If we pick 3, we will be able to get a pick to trade down, even a pick or two. There are top stud corners and WR's, and perhaps even an OT who will make the make down worth it.

I guess that we'll disagree up until the Draft and then after the draft, as was the case in 2024. The top of the draft will be a bit less complicated with only 2 QB's likely in the top 5.

I would trade down to about 7-8 for a 1st round pick in 26’, that way they could get Banks or Campbell. I would not trade down for a 2nd round pick in this draft, which is the CD equivalent of last years 3rd round pick. If that deal could not be made I would take Hunter.

If we could get a #1 pick in 2026 for a small trade down and then draft Campbell, that is a win.

Maybe Campbell can play OT or not, but he should be a standout guard at worst.

I'm terrified that this staff (Mayo & Wolf) are too smitten with the quick answer.
Reports are that they are again going with "best talent" at #3, they're going to fall to peer pressure and pick a WR.
That would be the last mistake they make, and they'll both be gone after '25.
They need to prove that they know fundamental football - spend all your first picks and FA money on best OL & DL.
That is why we've lost all year. Can't run consistently, and can't stop the run at all!

A guard that high? Idk. I kind of think first round should be tackle and sometimes center later in the round. Guards you can find later or in FA.

Hannah went #4.

Yeah, not saying Campbell is another Hannah, but he looks to be a stud as G, with the possibility of being able to play OT.

This is a poor draft class and getting a player who can play in the 1st is a win.

Remember this deal comes with a #1 in 2026.

Typically there is a single IOL that goes about halfway through the first round, if you think Campbell has a chance to play tackle but are ok with if he is just a starter at LG for the next decade there is precedence to pull the trigger.....But at 3 I'm BPA, need more talent all over the field.

I am not going to believe any rumors about the Pats' draft strategy is before the season is over and we know where they are drafting and what they do or don't do in free agency.

Dude I saw Tarvis Hunter play last year and was Absolutely Blown away. Have you been paying attention to our Pathetic Roster?? A Payer with the skill set of Hunter can turn us around quickly: make no mistake he has the Potential to be Great!
Yeah it’s really blasphemous posters would even consider passing up an athletic specimen like Hunter. He screams Deion Sanders to me.

we have the worst wide receivers in the nfl, a bottom 3 offense in the nfl going on 3 years, by far one of the most boring teams in the NFL besides Maye. We need some electrifying playmakers.

To be clear. When I say trade back. I'm talking like going from pick 3 to pick 7. And getting a first and a second for your troubles because someone desperately wants whatever player you have there.

That's the only consideration I'd give for moving backwards. It's not going to be a BB special where we trade our first for a future first and call it a day.
I’m leaning to that line of thought too. I think we’ll pick 2nd. Raiders beat Jax this week. Giants and us lose out. Cleveland and Raiders will need a QB. Trade from 2 to 7. Get a 2nd this year and 1st next year. I’d even kick in Atlanta’s 3rd third we have. In order to get that extra 1st next year.

1 Tet
1 trade 2nd and 3rd to get back into 1st
Ersery - T - Minnesota
2 from trade down. A safety

So we trade Gonzalez then. Right?

What good is having two All Pro CBs and no pass rush, no run defense, and no offense? If the Pats were in a need of a CB, which you clearly see Hunter as in the pros, then go for it. But that is the one area besides QB where the Pats don't need to draft in the top 3 of all the key positions (QB, CB, pass rush, OT).

Christian Watson (who I wanted in the 2nd Round), could have been ours instead of Thornton too!

Bill would've had to take him with the pick used on Strange69.

And he's not the best wide receiver in the draft. His athleticism is not the question.

Im not going to complain if they get Hunter, although id much rather them build up more draft picks. So many needs on this team
All things being equal, I completely agree with you.

That said, considering Wolf's track record on this past draft - it might be better just to give him the layup, then try to **** up 6 top 50 picks over the next 3 years.

Or, although he wouldn't have done it, Bill could have traded out of the 1st round and got both Watson and one of the two TE's who made an immediate impact as rookies!

Bills and Chargers are already counted in the SOS. So doesn't matter that they play them. Since there are at least 2 division games in the last 3 for most teams the SOS is going to change less over the next 3 weeks.
Patriots basically have a 5-game lead over Jags with 3 weeks to go. 8 games over Carolina.
Also, Jags play Raiders and Titans, good Chance of winning 1 or both.
Most important thing is to have your division teams lose the non-division games as the division teams count as 2 since they play them both.
You want Jets to lose to Rams, and Dolphins to lose to 49ers. You'd want Texans to beat Chiefs to hurt Jags SOS.
