If Brady wins a 5th ring before he retires, how long...

Brady's only equivalent in modern (70's or later) sports is Michael Jordan. In terms of individual and team excellence, there is no other comparison. If Brady got to 6 or 7 SB's I could call him clearly Jordan's superior, but short of that they are #1 and #2, in some order, on a 2-man list. They are on the level of Ali, Ruth, Russell, and Gretzky as superior pillars of excellence in their sports, not to be confused with the mere ranks of otherwise excellent players.

Everything's possible, but I feel comfortable saying there's a literally zero chance that someone plays as well as Tom has, as consistently as he has, for 15+ years (maybe 20 by the time it's over), while winning constantly. It's never happened before, really in any sport, so to say that it will never happen again doesn't seem like a stretch.

Magic Johnson? 5 Championships, 9 Finals Appearances? in the 80's only TWO years they did not make the NBA Finals (81 and 86)

This will piss everyone off. If Brady wins 5th ring he won't need a scheduling conflict not to show up at the White House like when Obama invited him because his guy in there.

What pisses people off is the neverending need of the Trumpswabs to bring politics into the football forum.

the nba actually considered retiring his number for all teams

He is the greatest. Deal with it

The Greatest is Muhammad Ali, Jordan was just a basketball player.

Not a surprise, you foreshadowed that by crying when Florence Henderson died.

We all mourn in our own way for the first woman to die who we remember jerking off to

Now look, Tom may have had a perfectly legitimate reason for not showing up. We'll just never know.

The NBA website states: "By acclamation, Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time."

By acclamation, Bill Russell (and Bobby Orr) sucks.

Jean Beliveau won 10 Cups with the Canadiens, the last one in '71.

Henri Richard won 11 rings, as many as Bill, the last in '73.

Bill Russell is not the greatest basketball player. 11 rings is impressive, but not when you consider the overall lack of talent in the league/sport at the time.

Same for football players from the beginning/pre nfl. The takent just simply wasn't there across the league

Do you think it'd realistically take for another QB to match his 5 rings and win 5 Superbowls?

Our lifetime?

Never?

No multiple ring winner not named Brady has more than 2. Hard to see Ben and Eli getting 3 more. Neither the Giants nor Steelers are an up and coming team.

If not them then you're looking at say Rodgers, Wilson, Flacco and Brees winning 4 more. Not likely. Wilson would probably be the best bet if you had to pick but that's still a huge reach.

If not them then someone else. With parity in the NFL I can't see it.

Never say never but if Brady can pull it off I think he's got this one for a very long time at least. And the "debate" would be decisively over.

(Sigh*) So, you think you'd have more trouble playing say, in today's NBA than fifty years ago?

It's okay, most people agree with you

Obviously

I doubt hardly any athletes from that era could compete in today's leagues.
