Idle thoughts - "the lost opportunity" edition

There is a clear mandate that the refs protect the top players, especially this year with Covid. When the ref saw Mahomes getting hit, he blew the whistle and called it "forward progress."
I guess Hoyer does not qualify as a 'top player'.

Therefore when he got killed, no call.

The interesting question is: would Belichick? I don't know. I THINK he prefers system-adherence over improvisation.
Oh Bill would have no problem with Brett.

Favre is such an astronomical upgrade over Bledsoe; and Favre's improvisations usually worked.

Funny how you don't hear criticism of Unitas' or Staubach's improvisations.

They, Bradshaw, Montana, Brady etc. all threw their share of picks.

Oh and Newton improvises all the time.

Yeah, but Brady's next game went differently from Stidham's.
Sorry, I don't trust the kid. It seems like the Pats don't either. I hope he comes out next time and proves me wrong.

Lol. Remind yourself about what happened between the two Brady starts. Then compare it to Stidham and tell me that they are remotely comparable.

If you think so, you're deluding yourself.

The problem with that is Machines arm was in a throwing motion.

Precedent was set that you don't call in the grasp in that scenario.
