I believe his policy is about posting personal, and/or private phone numbers and/or personal and/or private addresses. I did neither. I posted what is available to the general public....nothing more, nothing less. I think you overstepped the bounds, just slightly, but nothing personal, just my opinion.

NEM, there was a link to Ian's policy earlier in this thread.
http://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/showthread.php?t=30213

Either you chose NOT to read it or you chose NOT to follow it. Either way, you violated Ian's policy.

"Posting personal information (phone #'s and addresses, regardless of whether or not it's public) is forbidden in the forum and will result in an immediate 3-day suspension. It would be unfair for me to not penalize TGIAC after penalizing a previous poster after a similar offense.

Terry Glenn is a Cowgirl will automatically be reinstated in three days.

Ian"

I do not know how many times Ian's policy of NOT posting personal information on HIS forums has to be stated BEFORE it gets through.

If it is so important to you to post personal information, why don't you create your own website and your own forum and post it there?? Or is it important to you to post personal information ON Ian's forum???

The name of his company, and the address of the company is NOT personal information...it is public domain, and public knowledge.

Then let the public find it and do what ever they want with it.

If Ian doesn't want that posted here then we have to respect that.

If he doesn't want us to type in red, we should repect that- it's his site to run as he sees fit.

There's one problem with your post. The address and phone number to an agent's office is not personal information.

This is a forum to talk about football. What is there to talk about with an agent's phone number?

Ian's policy specifically pertains to PRIVATE phone numbers and addresses, NOT to public information that is readily available anywhere on the internet.

I agree with Ian's policy regarding private information. This did NOT apply in what I posted.

Just unbelievable. Regardless of the fact that this is a private site with written rules, as stated earlier that number is public domain for people that have legitimate business interests with Superstars Inc. which you do not.
What could you possibly have to say to anyone intimately involved with this situation that is constructive?

You are a fan of the team. Nothing more. Get over yourself.

Well, we've got a lot of touchy people here, that's for sure. I love reading it though. I was tempted to do a new post (as a joke) "Ian, is it O.K. if I toilet paper Jason Chayut's home?", but poor PatSox and NEM both got ripped new ones, so I don't dare.

It's pretty much the same thing though.

I have talked to Ian. He told me that he will be making a post about this later tonight.

I will refrain from making another further comments on his policy until he speaks.

If you want to respond to Chayut and Branch, as a Pats fan, then you obviously need directions as to where you need to send your thoughts to.

I hate to bring this up but, isn't it intentions we're bickering about here? I don't think alot of "happy" letters would be sent to his office where as something like Miguel has in his signature is generally (and rightly) viewed as a positive. The policy should state: "at Ians' or his designated surrogate's discretion an address may be banned". Otherwise I have to agree with NEM that Chayut's isn't a personal address but a business one. If it's all regards to the site's liability could not someone (purely hypotheically for the sake of arguing a point of contention) use the address, again, in Miguel's signature and right nasty letters, then claim it was the website that posted the address. Ian's probably hating this for the pain in the a** it's causing but the policy should be uniform or (and this is what I would prefer) at the moderators' discretion. Again this is a hypothetical using Miguel just because it is front and center, I have no clue as to the arrangements made and permissions granted.

Well, I believe the owners of this website don't want to encourage or be associated with fans contacting private citizens.

I'm sure if Mr. Chayut or Mr. branch wanted to have a dialogue with disgruntled fans they would make themselves available.

There are newspapers and team websites available and fans certainly make their opinions known. I'm sure he can read them if he wants to.

The difference is Chayut is unlikely to call you or show up on your doorstep.

As has been noted, one can easily find this information and confront, stalk or whatever one plans on doing.

You certainly don't need to involve the owners of the board.

Excellent point. I will be editing my signature ASAP.

That's not what I was looking for, believe me. I feel like crap now. I was hoping that it would just be more of a discretionary decision on a case by case basis. Now you know why I got out of the politcal/law field.

Mr. Chayut and Mr. Branch are far from private citizens. The NFL lives and dies on the fans. If we weren't here, if our opinions didn't matter, then they wouldn't be making the ridiculous amount of millions they make.

Their selfish actions have waived any rights for privacy in the public world, especially when they're available for contact at their profession regardless. If Chayut doesn't want the public to have access to his office, then he should a) Get his phone # and address out of the yellowpages, and b) create a bubble that he can live in.

PatsRI has a good point. Why is it alright to have the contact information for Miguel's public charity posted, while at the same time posting the info for Chayut's office is unacceptable?

You've got his contact information, why not go harass him.

No, you want to impress all your internet friends about it first.

Do whatever you want to do, but I don't want to know about it.

It's nice to see some anonymous forumer from half way accross the country has my motives all figured out.

Because the charity wants your input? Duh!

Well too bad if Chayut doesn't.

Just saying, nothing stopping you from sending Chayut an email.

Nothing stopping you from emailing all his information to your friends.

Yet you insist that we involve the owner of a private forum that explicitly

makes rules prohibiting such behavior and states over and over they want

nothing to do with it.

Why? attention?

I'm not even going to contact Chayut's office, e-mail or by phone. I just don't see the fuss about posting public information on a public forum.

This is so dumb. What could anybody possibly gain from posting this information? It smacks of common sense and apparently a few of us lacking it in serious dosage. Posting this information will only make it that much more easier for someone with malicious intent to commit harm. Imagine, some poor soul who wants to "convince" Chayut to change his stance found this address and goes on to harrass him, or worse. Why take that kind of risk?

Common sense, it's a beautiful thing.
