. Why is it alright to have the contact information for Miguel's public charity posted, while at the same time posting the info for Chayut's office is unacceptable?

FYI - I have changed my signature.

I've noticed. It's fair game to you, but I think you should still be able to have it in your sig.

Man, this thread is heavy.

I'm not even going to contact Chayut's office, e-mail or by phone. I just don't see the fuss about posting public information on a public forum.

Sorry, got carried away.

Message boards have had loonies on them and felonies have been committed.

Of course that's unlikely, but the owners have a right to prohibit posting of information that could cause them trouble.

NEM should have learned his lesson about blurring the line between fantasy and reality on messageboards, but apparently he hasn't.

If you don't believe me, ask Mrs. NEM.

Perhaps I've gone on too long as well. I already know what Ian's going to say about it, but I just wanted to make the other side of the agrument known.

We can agree on one thing - we all hate Chayut whether we can say it to his face or not.

Quite frankly Miguel, I think you made way too much out of this and extended it way beyond where it needed to go.
NEM buddy, Miguel and the other mods have only been doing what Ian asked us to do: keep some semblance of order, enforce his rules as we interpret them, move troll infested threads to Interleague, handle the complaints and user-reported posts, etc. You're the one who 'extended it way beyond where it needed to go'. If you really had a problem with the way a mod was interpreting Ian's ban on posting contact information, a private message to Ian would have been effective, low key and angst-free.

Part of interpreting the guidelines here is to take into account the spirit with which the information is 'shared'. If, God forbid, a Patriot player passed away and surviving family requested that donations be made to X Charity, and you chose to post the contact information to X Charity, do you think one mod would have removed it? Of course not. However, Miguel, myself, and I believe one other mod have interpreted the spirit of posters sharing Chayut's contact information as less than honorable and have removed that info from this forum in accordance with Ian's edict.

While hate is a strong word, I'm with you on that sentiment.

I was trying to get into an argument about this and I was quite disappointed to find out you are a mature and level headed person.

Oh well, you can't win 'em all.

Well said. It's obvious that the posting of the business address info in the Chayut case was to enable what the recipient would most likely term as 'harrasment'. Not something the site would want to be cited for as the source.

Grow up, people.

I didnt blur any line in this thread. Nothing of a personal, or private nature was posted, and I followed the rules, completely.

You are right NEM, I apologize.

I do think someone that was immature might actually do something with the information and the site owners would at least be embarassed if not actually liable.

We can disagree, but it is their site, their rules.

Sorry if I offended you brother, my bad.

When you personally have and pay for your own site then you can take the responsibility for the hundreds of UNKNOWN people who read the site info and then UNBEKNOWNST to you and out of your control, go do what they do.

Case in point: You do not know me, maybe I'm a stalker perv who will harrass Chayut and his business.

Well, since I deleted posts that I felt violated Ian's policy, you should not have seen them.

NEM said:
If someone asks someone else what the address is of his firm that is representing a Patriots player, i see nothing wrong with providing it.
Let's say that Ian says that it is wrong to do it on his forum. Will you violate Ian's policy???

So, was the original poster 100% serious?
i thought it was semi-kiddingly.

I was. 9 pages on this is ridiculous. We REALLY need the season to start.

Start the season and miss all this reviting talk about personal vs public info and the phins fans declaring the division theirs? WHy would you want the season to start?

NEM said:
It depends. Are you going to use "Public" or "Private" toilet paper?????

See that's the thing, I was going to use "business" toilet paper, so it should be O.K..

I don't want to get in trouble here, but this is readily available on the internet. Let me know and I'll post it (or not).

I know a good way around this policy!

Post your home phone number for all of us so we can call you and get it!

Agreed. I spoke to Miguel at length about this last night, and I agree with him completely. Although I understand the whole issue with public domain, I still don't want phone #'s, addresses, etc. and that type of information posted in here.

Ian

Per Ian's policy "Posting personal information (phone #'s and addresses, regardless of whether or not it's public) is forbidden in the forum and will result in an immediate 3-day suspension."

I've already deleted Chayut's phone number from this board three times before Miguel's reminder that a suspension was required.

That's totally fine, Ian. I was sort of just joking around - and thought that, by ASKING instead of actually DOING (which I wouldn't actually do), I was being respectful and responsible. I never imagined it would lead to double-digit pages, but it's probably a good conversation to have been had by the members here so...it's all good.

Shouldn't this thread be closed?????

He PatSox, your ploy to see if Ian was still alive worked brilliantly. The fact that it took almost 100 replies to do so, is interesting, but..........

NEM said:
But, allegedly, according to one poster, Ian is NEM, or is it NEM is Ian?

Oh yeah, that was me who said that. Dang, I'm funny!

P.S. - I'm the 100th replier to this post!!!! Yeah baby!!!
