I owe Will Campbell an apology.

I’m curious what he thinks he would’ve said that he’d later regret.

While part of that would likely be passing blame (the regret), there’s most likely some degree of truth to it as well.

Have heard some say he was left out to dry, and wonder if he was frustrated with the coaches given his ailing knee and how the game unfolded.

To me, the most logical is the injury is much worse than the public knows. He worked his butt off to get back to even where he is. He tried to be the best teammate he could be by sacrificing his body, and there was little appreciation or understanding outside of the locker room. My thought is that he was holding those emotions back because he wanted to vent, reveal the injury, and tell us what he has been through. Vrabel said no. We will show them next year. This is on us, not you. This is my guess.

Makes me shake my head when I read posts here extolling guys like Slater and Raimann, or any of the LT 2026 draft prospects, clearly without applying the same criteria to them as they do to Campbell. Quick please check Raimann’s measurables and RAS score and compare those to Campbell’s. Cue the love for Josh Simmons here and ignore the weird disappearance in the middle of his rookie year, or maybe Armand Didn’t Play Left Tackle In College Membou, or anyone drafted in the past three years? I ask again why people with access to almost no information are so quick to believe they see more than Vrabel, McDaniels, Marrone, Wolf, and the rest of the Pats brain trust on this.

I’m not whistling past the graveyard on Campbell as a LT but can some of you do a little homework before deciding that a better option can be found at all, much less easily be found?

Because the age of Google, ChatGPT, and fragile snowflake mentality has created the concept that all people are equal in knowledge and skill to everyone else. We can't teach our kids that they stink in certain areas so the need to find their niche. We give them a participation trophies to make them feel better. Those who earn their way up the ladder are just lucky or privileged. Maybe that can be true at times, but its not the majority. Its easier to just believe you deserve everything everyone else has even if you are too lazy or unskilled to earn it. That culture is who you are addressing.

You cant find anyone else is a common argument to keep a failing HC or QB.

Notice the positives and negatives in Campbells scouting report. Some are so dead on.

I doubt that, probably more so that he thought he’d get combative/defensive with media. Doesn’t seem like a blame other kind of kid.

Saw that last year, now let us know what LT prospect either last year or this year, available in free agency or the draft or in a realistic trade scenario, presents better than Will Campbell. My position is there aren’t any but I’m open to your opinions and those of others and to reiterate I’m certainly concerned about Campbell.

Agreed, but it’s also hard to imagine what he could say that would be so egregious. That would be a serious total lack of self control.

There was that one shot of him barely acknowledging Coach Vrabel he was so into his own feelings after a playoff win. It’s an area for improvement…handling his emotions. If he has so little control post game, then that doesn’t give me confidence he has the necessary control during the game either.

End of the day, it’s part of him needing to become more mature, and that’s not some big indictment for a 22 y/o finishing his rookie season.

Lot of line coaches employed by the team on this forum. They know what's up, unlike the rest of us who, you know, actually coach football.

I coach football.
I know you do, hence the "us" in my post.

There must be somebody in the draft that will suffice.

Man…I lost a wrestling match in HS, destroyed a locker room, trash cans, refused a handshake all of it.

Granted I was probably 16 but 22 isn’t exactly light years ahead of that.

But…compared to Onwenu , Campbell is Adonis.
Linemen are not called “big fatties” for no reason.

Mass is mass, but muscle mass is best. Get that boy into a serious weight training program.

Most rookies, I think, need the major shocks to their system that their first year provides. Not quite the same, but I remember hitting my first year of college as a major nerd in HS. I was ****y and never worked hard to get good grades (National Honors Society member). Freshman year schooled me hard. All of a sudden, the knowledge just wasn't there anymore. I had to learn how to learn after a decade+ of just using my natural talent.

Same thing happens with college football players hitting the pros, I think. That's the real 'rookie wall'. Now is the point where Campbell has to decide if he wants to put in the exponentially harder work to be a great NFL left tackle. More weight room work. More film study. More practice.

Good question, clearly stated, well focused and bounded.

WTF?

Asked a specific question, responds “there must be someone”.

Deflect, distract, evade, but don’t answer.

SMH.

Well, I bet those trash cans never pulled that **** again.

Like I said, it’s not a big indictment given his age / experience. He’ll need to grow, and seems from what we can see on the surface he has the ability, and the support from coach.

Numerous studies have concluded that the male brain is not fully developed until on average around 27. Some reach it at 25 and some not until 30. I had to take a class that covered this topic back when I was on the job. Females are usually in their early 20s around 24 on average.

STFU

There is nobody is just dancing around the issue.
