I guess its official: NE has great OL

There's a lot to be said for having the same unit playing together for the entire season. Of course health is a key in that, but remember how Gugs constantly tinkered with the line? These guys are really trusting each other.

It goes beyond that. Just look how much improved Cannon is in terms of technique. Going from Googs to Dante is like going from Jack Del Rio to Bill Belichick. Every player on the line is substantially improved in terms of their fundamentals.

Mason was a monster this game particularly.

Mason's such an interesting guy. He's the OL equivalent of the wildly successful and athletic but undersized college option QB. Can he adjust to a pro-style offense? Should he change positions?

Georgia Tech ran a triple option, so Mason was completely raw as a pass protector. And he's <6'2", so most draft analyses projected him to center only. But he's a fluid and explosive athlete (32" vertical at 304 lbs!) and seems to have that tenacious, nasty attitude you want in a guard. I think he's only going to get better.

In other news, who IS this Marcus Cannon fellow??? One of the most amazing stories of the season, IMO.

Excellent game by them but it did concern me the Jets and 49ers were blowing up the line. Hopefully this is the line going forward.

the funny thing is, it is mostly the same players/talent as last years turnstyle OL...only difference is dante.

cannon has quietly gone from cringeworthy to locking down all-pro pass rushers.
Gong into the season I thought we had everything we needed, just needed Dante back. He's a hell of a coach.

Their commitment to running the ball as well as the play of both Blount and White has really helped their OL improve. You can't be a great OL throwing the ball all the time, you have to give your OL the chance to win the distfight and they have been doing just that. One of the best things about last nights game was that they made the Ravens the finesse team, and you could see just how much it meant to the team that they finished them off by running right at them on fourth and one. Great game for pretty much everyone but Jones and Edelman, who made some key plays but had a tough night catching the ball.

Gee...Mike Lombardi?...or "Long Distance Pats Knower Of Things Watching TV fan"...who to believe, who to believe....gosh, I'm stumped, this is a tough one

Just believe yourself .. like you do so well.

They should be able to run the ball for over 4 ypc against just about everybody in the afc except maybe Baltimore if they play again, but Baltimore clearly has other defeciencies. If other teams in the afc can't stop our run, we should be playing in February no doubt. I'm very confident we are taking the afc back this yeat

Back to the guys, happy these guys are playing well, it's been a while since we had a thousand yard rusher. Blount might make the pro bowl this year if he breaks 1300-1400 yards.
Blount will not be in the pro bowl. He will have a previous commitment.

It's about time the OL has stayed healthy enough to be able to play as well as it has. That good because we'll need top OL play in order to win the SB.

Isn't there an assistant of the year award given out in the NFL?

If so, Dante needs to win it by unanimous vote. He's an absolute legend.

I don't get to see alot of Pats games here in Mich. Whats the status of OT Mother Waddles the Pats picked up from the Lions. He was really good his first year, then was injured and the Lions gave up on him,

If the Pats are going to win it the OL needs to be a reason and not a tag along. Right now it is being a reason.

My favorite aspect of the team right now may be the OL. They have the upside to be an elite OL (excluding the historic Cowboys unit)

It also is starting to look like we completely rebuilt the interior OL with:

3rd RD LG
UDFA C
4th RD RG

Could be two probowl guards sandwiched between a solid/dependable center for years to come
