I changed my mind... Sign Vereen

He is just too important to let walk. Over pay him a bit if you have to but keep him. When we play a team that can stop our run game (and we will) you are going to want Vereen to make things happen out of the backfield and move the chains and set you up in reasonable downs and distances.

You can let Blount walk, let Ridley walk. let Grey walk or let Develin walk. They don't make or break you by themselves. Vereen is a guy we might regret letting go though.

Pay the man.

The Faulk/Woodhead/Vereen role is fairly crucial on the Patriots. The Patriots also don't win their first Super Bowl without J. R. Redmond doing well in it (one Faulk play was very nice to have too).

I can respect your point that we should try to keep Vereen, but I don't agree that none of Blount, Ridley, or Gray are important. They are our power/everydown RBs.

I'm sure they'll try to hang onto Vereen as long as the price is right (which tells us nothing). He's got a lot of experience in our system, and is a nice 3rd down back to have. That said, if they can't reach a new deal, they'll just re-draft + grooming James White.

This is the beauty of BB. He won't. And that is exactly why the team has a chance every year. I heard someone say - maybe a month ago - one of the local media members say Vereen was the one guy he could see the Patriots overpay to keep. I tend to agree, IF the overpay is not substantial.
