gabriel and jackson will take time to get in sync with tom, they havent practiced with him the entire training camp...so i dont expect them to be good in the receiver position up until the mid season

Even by midseason they may be making catches, but they won't be thinking on Brady's wavelength and making the same coverage reads, etc., until next year at best. Brady has definitely been dealt some tough cards for 2006. Today he is bumming. Not that he can't still lead us to the Super Bowl, but our WR numbers will be down this year. Let's not kid ourselves.

The whole purpose of Patriots football isn't to make Tom Brady happy. It's to win. The Patriots spent a decade trying to keep Drew happy, and look what happened. Long-term deals to Drew's underperforming buddies on the line and a fan base that shrieked when Richard Seymour was drafted over David Terrell.

Free-agency being what it is, these things are going to happen. If Deion Branch had been an 80-catch, 1200-yard receiver, a Torry Holt, they would have spent money for him. But he wasn't, so they didn't. They spent the last two years rebuilding the running game (Mankins, Kaczur, Maroney) and have a few future investments in the passing game pending (Jackson, Thomas, Gabriel). The timing leaves us short-handed through the air and run-heavy right now. It'll all equal out eventually. Remember a few years back, when we were loaded at wideout and Mike Cloud was the new answer on the ground? Well, we got through that period (remember going to Indy with a running game so bad that our starting tailback, Antowain Smith, was a healthy scratch?) and now we're in some thin days at wideout. Remember the Carolina Super Bowl, when our o-line was in shambles? We got through that okay and now look at the depth on the line.

You deal with these times. The good teams get by and the bad teams let it translate into losses. That's the difference between winning and losing in the salary cap era. Every team has depleted units somewhere. And any team that's loaded everywhere won't be for long. Can we please stop panicking about this?

Ungy with a capital-B Bingo!

Ditto for Flutie on turning to Graham, Koppen, Samuel.

I don't think so. Patten did very good in 2001, his first year with Brady. And he was a former Arena League player, not a first round pick like Jackson.

Donte Stallworth practiced a week with McNabb. He did just fine yesterday.

I think that we won't have to wait a year for Caldwell/Jackson/Gabriel to be in sync with Brady.

Of course I truly hope you are right. I'd feel better if Jackson or Gabriel had practiced with Brady this summer, though.

ot - I have both gabriel and jackson on my fantasy team

You're wasting everybody's time. Yeah, Gabriel and Jackson STUNK yesterday!

Ever hear of credibility, Sean?

What are talking about? You wrote the same thing in my post about Gabriel and Jackson stinking? They didn't even play bro!

Lol, Brady is problably ticked but he can be ticked, I dont care. What a stupid freaking thread. Bradys bad game was Bradys fault not his recievers fault. Please watch the game again when you get a chance Bradys passes were deflected at the line about 10 times in one half. He got guys in the second half. He overthrew Kevin Faulk who had to make a leaping, diving spectacular catch. He threw the ball behind Graham who had a great chance to catch a TD. Do not blame the recievers or TE's or whoever, they dont deserve blame for Brady's performance Sunday.

That was right on the money. Brady knows who's fault it was yesterday and it certainly wasn't his recievers. Even Reche was catching what was thrown accurately, what little there was.

By the way, this means Brady'll throw for 4 TDs next week as a bounce back

Finally someone agreed and is smart and actually payed attention to the game.

But remember. God forbid we cant blame Tom Brady for a terrible game can we?! Since Brady could barely throw a pass over a linemans hand...lets not blame him just blame the recievers. Blame Caldwell, blame Brown, blame Graham, blame Watson. None were open but how would they know they werent open, Brady was ready to fire the ball but once again he got his passes batted down. Dont give me bad recievers crap.

I bet Watson could have caught well over 5 passes. I bet Caldwell could have got 5. I bet any of the guys out there could have got five or more, Brady failed to connect.
