HYPOTHETICAL: Do the Giants Beat NE Again Should They Make It?

Only thing of which to be afraid w the NYG is the edict and direction that will emanate from the league office.... Every 50/50 call go to the NYG...phantom PI, phantom holding all go against the Pats...

Nope. Pats beat them. Even if they have JPP. This OL won't let that pass rush get to Brady too much and our D will shut them down. Our O would only need 20 points to win and they can do that particularly if the Giants commit their custom 2-4 turnovers.

Since this is hypothetical and I get to say whatever I want: no.

Let's just see if they can fluke their way there first. Dallas and Atlanta are clearly better than them right now.

Watch the games, dont just look at stats. I havent looked at the stats since this week ended, but before this week the giants were better than only the Browns and 49ers in Time of Possion. Before this week they were number 1 in points per drive against, number one in completion percemtage against too. Part of the reason they allow 250 yards per game is because they are always on the field, they have an anemic offense, passing and running. This is why I always tell people watch the games, do not just look at stats

And then you go on posting stats.. I have watched nearly all Giants games on gamepass and I don't see a single reason to think that they are anything else than a average defense..

I didn't say stats were irrelevant, they can just be misleading. I'm not sure what's average about the Giants defense

Are you kidding? It'll be much worse against dallas.

Let's not jump ahead of ourselves n please no more giants that lucky catch n the great escape by Eli still make me cringe

I think they are a "light" version of the Ravens defense in all aspects except they are worse in the middle of the field/intermediate game (which explains their issues with TEs). None of their corners are of shutdown quality and as mentioned before their linebackers can be had.

If our OL plays similarly well as against the Broncos or Ravens then Brady will have enough time to find someone. Add in their awful offense and we can most probably even afford to stay with the run for a while to open up even more.

I just don't see it...

Giants have been basically a good team simce 2007 when healthy and not turning the ball over. Once again, they will be a big problem if we face them and they dont turn the ball over.

Fair enough about the linebackers. I disagree about the corners, I think they are playing at a very high level.

I am not saying that their corners are bad but I don't see DRC or Jenkins being as good as Butler. On the flipside they are both more consistent than Ryan/Rowe. I don't think that they are well suited to handle our hydra kinda offense even though not having Gronk looms large because it means one fewer double-team target on the field (in addition to Edelman).

Giants haven't made the playoffs in 5 years. If they make the super bowl this year, they will deserve it because that would mean 3 road games in a row and they are terrible on the road. I live in Maine now, but lived in MA the majority of my life. It seems like I have more conversations up here about the fear of the Giants compared to focusing on the Pats getting the one seed. It's annoying especially since many of the "sports fans" up here I have met, don't really follow the Pats like most of the people I knew in MA. One guy recently tried to tell me the Giants were the Patriots main rival. I was going to correct him, but I just laughed and decided to not waste the energy. The worst is when the pats win but they don't win by enough points so people are upset.

We got beat by the Giants. Even if they were, I hate saying they were lucky because I hate when other teams say the Pats got lucky. If somebody told me the Pats would win 4 out of 6 Super Bowls in the 80's, I would take that any day. Our 4 super bowl wins could have easily gone the other way because they all came down to basically the last play. For me those two losses suck but 2014 erased the majority of the disappointment. I also am very fortunate to root for the best coach and QB of all time and remember that nobody has more super bowls than BB and Brady. I'm really going to miss this when it's over so I'm trying to enjoy every second of the ride.

If the Patriots make the SB this year (hopefully they will), then any of the top 5 NFC teams will be very tough outs for them. Including the Giants.

No, they haven't been a good team since 2007. This will be the first time they've made the playoffs since 2011. They deserve all the credit they get for their SB wins in '07 and '11. Let this sink in: those 2 seasons aside, since 2007 they've played in one playoff game which was in 2008 and lost that game to Philadelphia at home. Finally, guys like Shank love to minimize the Patriots accomplishments by referring to the "Tomato Cans" in the AFC East. Wanna see some weak sisters? Check out the records of Dallas, Washington and Philadelphia since 2008 on.

There a lot of posters going off their meds or something?
This is why I created my mock hypothetical thread....to show how idiotic they are

If Brady gets hurt in the AFC championship game and Garapolo beats the Giants, Brady would STILL be a 5 time SB winner!

giants with no running game would be dominated by the pats..would be the easiest match up of any NFC play-off team except wash/det

Sucker punch? Good character trait there PR.

Thank you!

I didn't say I would, I said I'd have a difficult time not doing it.

But I would try to bait him into taking the first shot!
