Hurricane-Gate

A National Grid spokeswoman was interviewed on the radio two nights ago and explained in detail how/why Gillette Stadium and PP got power before some local residents. It had nothing to do with favoritism or pulling strings. Why can't people just accept that?

Because Kraft is cheap.

People in that area of Foxboro who are not Patriots fans or football fans believe it...thats why the power company had to step forward and show they were not showing favortism, they didnt have to prove anything but did anyway to 'satisfy' residents.

Because that type of explanation doesn't sell newspapers or generate page views to a web site the way conspiracy theory speculation does.

I have a friend who lives in a large condo complex in Easton. Half the condo complex lost power for only about two hours on Sunday and the other half didn't have power for 72 hours. That complex just happens to be on two different circuits.

This story is complete non-story.

I am happy we're going to see the game tonight but the National Grid person is putting on a show.

Here's a fact.. Mansfield got power before Norton, Foxboro, Taunton, and other surrounding towns.. This happened on Monday.. Guess what happened Tuesday.. Concert at Comcast.. Guess what happened 3 days later.. PGA Golf Tournament.. I've lived in New England my entire life and this is how life is.. If you know someone, your stuff gets fixed 1st..

Growing up, I lived in Warwick RI.. Neighbor was a politician for the state.. Our street was always 1st to be turned on in the development and we were deep in.. My father still laughs about it..

Like I said, happy we're going to see the game tonight but don't fool yourself or defend the obvious..

And I for one have no problem with any of that.

In this economy, getting power back and running to a business and revenue generating district first strikes me as good common sense.

I suppose we could make an egalitarian point and allow people's jobs and income to wait, but prioritizing business strikes me as a good common sense idea - and I say that as someone who spent 4 nights in the dark and without a shower. It sucked. But people's jobs and tax revenues come first.

I don't know if that happened but I wouldn't be mad about it - I'd be glad they showed some common sense.

Watch...Goodell will fine the Patriots 2 million bucks for conduct detrimental to the town of Foxborough...and then Foxboro takes 200 million pennies and puts them in a giant sock, painted green of course, and has a blimp drop the entire sack of coppers on the Omissioner's underground Rat bunker on Madison Avenue

I concur but it's bad taste when the service provider comes out and says there was no special treatment.

One hand washes the other.

in pre game show yesterday, Jonathan Kraft was explaining about the redundant power the stadium has, 1 from foxborough and 1 from wrentham which was restored much quicker. He also mentioned this has something to do with NFL mandate etc etc.

Looks like they had a lot of generators ready to go in case of extended outage and since they got the wrentham line up and running, they gave the generators to local communities, old age home etc.

Looks swell to me. what else can you expect for a team, and I didn't add the word classy becuase it is becoming redundant when we speak about Kraft and patriots these days :rocker:

Uhhhh, national grid is not a locally owned company. Keep trying....
Embarrassing!

Here I am defending the obvious:

PLEASE PLEASE READ the article before you post NONSENSE.

Article clearly states the Pats lost power in 1996 in a game and PAID FOR BACKUP GENERATOR CAPABILITY/CAPACITY at the substation that serves the stadium.

Remainder of town is on a DIFFERENT NETWORK.

Pats go and spend their own money to FIX A PROBLEM, 6 YEARS AHEAD OF TIME; and now YOU are going to come out that this is some big conspiracy and the Krafts paid off the utility workers or somehting. :bricks:

Maybe with the power in your street; but not Pats.

Tell me; are you also jealous of your neighbor cause he drives a mercedes and you drive an escort?

Ugh, another poster who fails to actually read before posting.. :bricks:

After 125 hours of having no power, national grid sucks.. big time.

Without regard, Jonathan Kraft on a pregame show explained that when they built Gillette they used two separate feeds to insure that they would not experience an outage. It has nothing to do with preferential treatment, and more to do with planning by the Krafts.

Jonathan explained that they could not generate enough electricity, so they did this.. he also explained that they let many in the community use their generators to they could get power.
