I somewhat disagree. On face value, the compensation is excellent (as well as the cap space wriggle room) but they gave up an All Pro level talent and have yet to cash in said draft capital. Right now, I think the Giants may be ahead but if they blow the picks, the Browns are the likely winners.

AB cost a 3rd and 5th. I get that the situations were different, but most of the time these top players who get traded on the south side of 25 don't net this type of haul.

Beckham's going to cost a lot less in cap space for Cleveland over the life of his 5 year deal than Brown for the Raiders and he's 5 years younger than Brown. Just a totally different situation.

Consider Brandin Cooks, who isn't close to the player Beckham is, got traded twice for 1st round picks and a little more when he had a shorter contract, the return isn't outrageous. The 17th overall is the headliner and I'd give that up for Beckham in a second. A 3rd round pick might be a contributor or it might be Jake Bequette. Peppers is an average player at one of the least valued positions in football.

I think the Browns win this one going away, particularly compared to what went down with Landry last year. People obsess over draft picks but the Browns just paired probably the most gifted receiver in football, still in his mid-20s, on a team-friendly deal with a potential rising star at QB.
