The horrible angles? Bad tackling? What is his contract like? This guy needs to go....

He actually has been pretty decent this season, and I've been one of his biggest haters. He'll have to keep up this level of play to stick for next season, though. He has a $2.25M salary in the last year of his contract.

the angles he takes makes me want to punch babies

Has he played that poorly? He's no all-Pro out there, but he's been a massive upgrade these past 2 seasons compared to the likes of Meriweather, Sanders, Brown, Chung, etc...

He has been bad at times, but has been pretty solid for the most part. Are people sleeping on the fact that the Pats' pass defense has been pretty solid this season. Gregory is a part of that.

I liked Sanders. Will always remember his INT over manning to seal that game what 3-4 year ago?

He has been solid for us, that said its fair to expect that safety will be listed as a top draft need for the 8 consecutive year.

I have to say other than the leading receiver in Bristol County Jail no player has disappointed me more in the last 12 months than Tavon Wilson.

He is signed through the end of next season.

I'm more inclined to say he's been better than he was last year but is still a contender for an upgrade. I don't feel comfortable with him watching him whiff in run support then act as a reincarnation of Patrick Chung in pass D.

Coming from someone who's wanted Gregory cut since 2012, I can say he's been fairly decent this season. He's playing way better now than he did then.

You could do worse than 2013 Gregory. As long as he keeps playing this rock solidly, I don't have much of an issue with him. I'd still say cut him next offseason though, but that's a discussion for another day.

Talk about a negative headline... Steve Gregory has been pretty decent at shoring up our safety. He is not a superstar but you aren't going to get superstars at all positions. We could have chung/wilson out there...

You need to watch the games with a more discerning eye. He's holding his own.

Hated this guys game coming into the year but he has been rock solid in 2013

Cutting him after this season is easy to do, in terms of his contract.

Well, this is a curve ball out of nowhere.

Of all the things to complain about this year's team, Gregory is very low on the list. He had his pi$$ poor moments last year, but has been decent on a vastly improved defense this year.

Not saying we don't want to improve his spot in the future, but kind of a random complaint at this moment.

I was assuming it was the result of the Mayo news, as that injury apparently came when Gregory hit him.

Sure. After all, we'll have A Wilson, T Wilson, Harmon and whoever we draft.

Seriously, I agree that Gregory's contract makes him expendable. However, IMHO, he'll still be getting lot of playing time at this time next year.

I agree that he will be here next year; he is a Belichick type of player – smart, hardworking and can do multiple things on the field. That said I would like to see an upgrade but I think I have been saying that about the safety position since Rodney Harrison retired so I won’t hold my breath.

For the record though I think DI was speaking just to his contract and not lobbying for his release, that’s how I read the post anyway.

T Wilson has fallen off the defensive radar and A Wilson will be 57 years old, but Harmon is getting on the field and looks pretty good.
