How many here are only focused on winning one game?

I focus on one game at a time because it helps me savior the season. Why look ahead to another opponent? You can do that the following week.

One game at a time is a way to manage how you invest your time.

This... I've really enjoyed this season, partly because I'm just taking it one week at a time (sweet Jesus ). And even this is a huge time waster. But dang... it's so much fun.

The reaction to RayClay's post is entirely different than I expected. When I read it I totally agreed that enjoying football is all about focusing on that one game that day. It's what makes it great.

The replies to the post are kind of knee-jerk in that people are beating back an argument he didn't make. Yes, we all know it's silly for fans to pretend they are part of the team and that they are looking ahead. Some posters do indeed chide others for "looking ahead." They do, we've seen it. I don't think RayClay was doing that.

I was in middle school during the Ron Erhardt 2-14 year, and let me tell you, that was the best dang 2 win team in NFL history!!!! Each week, every game meant so much, and there wasn't one week that I can remember the Patriots getting blow out. They were snakenitten, but as a fan I was totally tuned into each game, especially on a team with that much talent on it. Grogan, T Collins, Cunningham, Tatupu, Stanley Morgan, Andy Johnson, Hasselbeck, Harold Jackson, Roland James, Mike Haynes, Rick Sanford, Ray Hamilton, Tim Fox, John Hannah, Pete Brock, Brian Holloway, Shelby Jordan, Julius Adams, Steve Nelson, Ray Clayborn.

2-14. I survived the year just fine watching that team.

I've been 90% on this game. The one thought that keeps popping into my head is I'm so happy the AFC is the early game so I know who to root for in the NFC. If we win I root for Seattle. If Denver wins I root for SF.

I just think SF will travel better than Seattle and that their run defense is more suspect. I also think Seattle's pass rush is less of an issue on the road with the noise advantage taken out Seattle's receivers are also inferior to the 49ers. Lynch may be better than Gore but not by much.

If the Pats don't win I'm a HUGE fan of whoever wins the NFC for two weeks.

EDIT: Plus I'd love for Brady to get caught miked up saying to Sherman "Who's mad now bro?"

I mean, this is getting to epic levels of ridiculous now. Here's how it breaks down...

1. They play for the team.

2. We don't.

So what harm is it for us to look ahead to any game? We are not players. We are not taking the field on Sunday. We aren't day dreaming of Super Bowl glory while coach is breaking down film. We're envisioning Super Bowl scenarios while at work, home, on a plane/train/car/whatever. We have nothing to do with what takes place on the field on Sunday. PLAYERS need to take it one game at a time. A fan does not. If you want to take it one game at a time, feel free to do so. It's absolutely ridiculous that you feel the need to behave or think like that, but feel free.

I would take it a step further to say that the coaching staff/ scouting department likely thinking just a wee bit of seattle and SF, but only because it's there job to be prepared and try and stay 2 steps ahead. Bb's focus is on denver but some intern or coach on the team is probably looking at film on SF or Seattle.

Most fans do look ahead. But that is nothing compared to how they look behind with 20/20 vision, perfectly.

Personally, I have had a lot of fun watching this team this year because I have not had the highest of expectations, based on the reality of all the adversity this team has had.

When game time comes though, my hopes and dreams will take over from the expectations.

I don't look much beyond this season, that said I really think the Pats catch a break with the SB being at the Meadowlands instead of a warm weather site this year.

I have hopes of seeing the Manning face about 6:15pm, then he will have all the time he like to much Papa John's and knock down a case of Bud Light.
