How confident are you on our own Roster?

He already served the max amount of time on the Exempt List. And considering he was acquitted, a suspension is not, in fact, coming.
He was not acquitted of the drug charge. He did, in fact, admit to cocaine possession. That matter was continued without a finding. So if you think the NFL will do nothing on the cocaine charge and admission, okay.

Continued without a finding means the NFL won't take any action. They've already said their investigation part is over. Basically, he served, what, 7 games already?

No, it’s not. You need to know how others played to make that judgement.
you don't.

but heres guys that do

I thought you said those don’t mean anything?

Well you are adamant they do. Was hoping you could point out where Robinson is... Those being the All-rookie rosters...

Last season he ranked as barely adequate in my eyes. So I guess you could say he's on the All-rookie barely adequate team if that makes you feel better

Me? I would not complain if we had five new starters on the OL.

He admitted to cocaine possession in court, under oath. Continued without a finding is a legal status for a case. It's essentially a form of probation: if he gets into it with the law (gets pulled over for speeding and they find more in the car, for example) before dismissal, the case can (and probably will) proceed against him.

The NFL may be done with the matter, I don't know. But arch said he was acquitted, which is true of the DV charge but not of the drug charge. That is still hanging over his head. He needs to stay clear of the law.

It's not hanging over his head. He's on what amounts to probation. Even the government more or less shrugged their shoulders at the cocaine thing since there was so little of it in the baggie in his wallet.

I'm at the point where I'll either set up a prop bet on one of the betting sites or do one of the those "donate money to the charity of your choice" bets with anyone here who thinks Peppers is going to be suspended next season for either this DV charge he already served a suspension for or the cocaine possession.

I wasn’t adamant that they matter, what I said was that I couldn’t judge the accuracy without having watched all the players play; which is a completely reasonable point.

And my greater point, once again, is that most players drafted after the first round don’t make it. In fact that number is almost 70%. And that you need to give those players 2-3 seasons to either develop or not, and that all the Patriot fans calling them busts are being foolish.

It is completely irrational to think that you cannot judge a player because you "haven't seen everyone else". Im sorry, thats just stupid. You get a sense of how well your teams players are doing by watching them play... not based on comparison shopping. Because quite frankly, it does not matter how guys are doing on other teams. Its great to say that Robinson outplayed some other scrubini on another team... What does that get you? Not even a cup of coffee.

Who makes it, who doesn't is irrelevant. Once they are here, they are here. Their draft slot instantly becomes meaningless.

Is it foolish to call someone a bust early on? Absolutely not - Especially if they are in the starting line up. I will say this - if they are on the bench, or are playing limited minutes, the guys who have more snaps on special teams than the offense - thats a fine way to play it. But if the guy is starting? Not a ****ing chance. That's a clear sign that your roster is ass deep in a pool of alligators.

You want to tell me Robinson will be on the bench? fine, I won't criticize him. You tell me he's starting? Then all criticism - or praise - that comes his way is warranted.

Because I keep calling out your mischaracterization of the state of the case, you assume I think Peppers will be suspended (I don't). My focus is on calling you on your BS. It IS still hanging over his head. The charges have NOT been dismissed. If he gets a DUI or another assault charge in the interim, for example, the charges likely wouldn't be dismissed. Given that he's already admitted to possession, a plea deal would be likely.

Go ahead and set up a prop bet. I'll put my money on Peppers not being suspended. That's not the point. The point is that you can't stop yourself from saying false things about the case, and then just keep doubling down with nonsense when called on it. Now you're at the "prop bet" stage because you've made a boneheaded inference about my position.

Either way I win the bet.

Make up my own scale

QB - B minus - Maye shows potential but won’t really know what we have until he gets some talent
RB - C - average or below average
WR - D - terrible
OL - D - terrible

DL - C minus
LB - C
Secondary - C plus

No comment on specialists

Mapu might not have been worth the draft pick he was take , but today he’s a failed prospect not worth playing time is a pretty harsh take. Played well towards the end of the year and deserves a shot. I’m not ready to give up on Wallace either since I’m going to assume the new staff is not gonna be absolute morons and try to force a lifetime RT at LT. Robinson could possibly be solid, but I’m with you on the rest. Hopefully Polk can find something…maybe that s*** that gene hackman threw on Clifford Franklins hands in the replacements.
I should clarify what I mean by "failed prospects". I mean that right now, they simply aren't starting caliber players. if you're relying on them to play key roles I think you have to say that the depth chart is weak at those spots. But I also called out that they aren't worth giving up on yet. Like you said, I think they all deserve shots to continue to compete for roles and hopefully better coaching can help them become more steady contributors.

We need to upgrade everywhere except QB (but also backup QB - a vet that can be a study & workout role model for Maye)
And that includes an absolute draft hit AND a solid vet in FA on several position groups.

OL - #1 round LT + Vet RT and G/C
WR - #2 round X + Vet X/Z
RB - #5-7 round RB (3rd down)
TE - #3 round TE + Vet (re-sign Hooper or other)
DL - #3 round EDGE + Vet DT & DE
LB - #4 round MLB + Vet OLB
S - #7 round FS + Vet FS
CB - #5 round CB + Vet CB
Draft is a crapshoot and their chances of hitting go waaaaaaaaay down if they stick to some prescribed formula like this of a certain position each round. That's probably the worst imaginable strategy they can take. It seems it's exactly what they did last year though where the picks at WR (Polk) and OT (Wallace) seemed decided ahead of time position-wise. Can't make that mistake again.
