Honestly have no idea how that Defense can be fixed

I was all for keeping Revis even at his 25 cap number (they still had to carry a huge cap hit for him even after he left). I was horrified when they gave 9 million a year to McCourty! He is MIA! For all of you that says "he make sure they have no long plays" where the hell was he tonight? I think he had one tackle.

Having Butler, Hightower, Collins, and Jones all on realitvly cheap rookie deals was great. Why they traded Collins and Jones away (for basically nothing) is still mind blowing.

Collins will still lead this team in interceptions at the end of the year!!

You can't keep trying to prove you can win with guys off the scrap heap.

Collins and Hightower have been working with each other for years, your middle LBs, much like a Guard and Tackle, work as a team, so breaking up the band mid season is a bad idea.

That defense at the end of the half was inexcusable. They had CHRIS LONG covering Jimmy Graham on 3rd and long!!!! WTF?????

Sometimes I think that BB is too smart for his own good!

This D is lacking leadership. Dmac is laid back. He's even alluded to that, he is not a forceful leader. Losing Collins was not a major blow, IMO, because he also lacked leadership. Who is the "Veteran", Hightower? Just seems to be spread too thin. hopefully, once again, BB shuts us up. But this was not a good showing. And, Bye weeks are a factor sometimes. It just looked like a lack of urgency, coaching, play calling... Is it just me, but did anyone else see a lack of effort on a few of Seattles big plays?? Let's hope next week they shut me up. Bring back the fight TB!!!!

They had to carry a dead cap hit of 5m dollars when he left, so that's a bit different than a 25m dollar cap hit or a 40m dollars in guaranteed money on a 5 year deal. After all, it's not like Revis is proving his value with that deal, is he?

I think, while tempting at the time, you'd have been wrong if you paid big money, and I don't think there's any team in the NFL who would have picked up the option with a 25m dollar cap hit.

Revis was a great signing and the better player in 2014 but talib would have been the cheaper better long term investment. Talib is still playing at an elite level while revis is past his prime

Listen I loved the revis signing in 2014 one of Bbs best deals

I don't know. I think we have some first rounders in Brown, Hightower, McCourty who should be considered "top talent." I also think that Belichick does alright with role players and vets. Losing Easley, Jones, and Collins does hurt, though.

Ha, I completely forgot about McCourty (it's pretty easy to). Yep, he sure did a great job standing 70 yards downfield, so Seattle could only complete the 30 yard passes instead.

You could pay me 9 million to stand downfield and not contribute in any way. Hell, I'll do it for league minimum!

"We don't want to give them any big plays, make them dink and dunk". I dunno, 20+ yard pass plays seem pretty big to me.

This defense unless they have an epiphany is what it is, average at best. Pressure don't mean nothing if nothing good ever comes out of it. Ryan and Coleman neither should be starting. What you see is what you get, your eyes aren't playing tricks on you this defense will be the downfall of this team if they're needed to win a game. Only way this defense gets fixed is with 70 million in cap space, mark my words.

I am absolute trash at identifying the intricacies of football, let alone the complicated defensive philosophy of the Patriots (Sometimes too complicated; that two man rush stuff was hilariously bad), so maybe someone could help me -

Seattle defenders tend to blow up a play in the sense that if a receiver gets a short catch with a defender 4-5 yards in front of them, they immediately close the distance themselves and negate a lot of YAC. The downfall of this is if you're not disciplined enough, you offer the opportunity for a messy tackle or to get juked out of your bones. Edleman creates these situations often (not as much as he used to though. Holy hell he was a monster this game though... Then fumble...)

New England seems to play too disciplined, almost afraid, and will let the offensive player close the gap, forfeiting yards for clean tackles. Am I wrong in this assessment? So many times I felt like I saw Chung hang back and wait for the clean tackle, rather than hit hard.

Belichick has an awful lot of trouble with end of half situations. This past SB, with 6 seconds left, they just let the guy score instead of simply tackling him, taking the penalty, and forcing Seattle to go for it or kick the FG (I'm guessing Pete would just kick the FG, he wanted to with 6 seconds left). It also happened in one of the Manning Colts games.

Or they could just not let teams drive 75+ yards downfield.

This D lacks an emotional leader. They are playing completely lifeless out there, nobody to hype them up and get them to play as a TEAM. This defense played today like the way they presented themselves: as a bunch of individuals. I'm starting to believe that the team may miss Chandler Jones. Not his on-court production, but his emotionality. Jones isn't really a leader, but he was always hyped up on the field, congratulating guys on making big plays, jumping up and down the sidelines.

This was garbage play-calling. I don't understand the point of calling the same two-man rush play TWICE after you dodged a bullet by the miscommunication of Wilson and the receiver. With the entire playcall sequence they were begging the Seahawks to score a TD on them. This is getting beyond frustrating.

This bunch of crap makes me think you would have been one of the loudest people critizising BB for not taking a TO in the SB before the Butler INT even though his reasoning and awareness in that moment just shows his brilliance.

On that note where exactly are the borders between "its Logan Ryan's", "its Patricia's" and "its BB's" fault? I'd love to know..

Start Sheard and Flowers as the first choice edge rushers.

Rowe over Ryan, and much more man to man as supposed to a soft zone against playoff level offenses.
