Honestly have no idea how that Defense can be fixed

Am I understanding this right that at one point last night we dropped 9 players into coverage only rushing 2??? Like I must be imagining that. Is that right?

The hardest hit came from Bennett, a te smacking Thomas to the ground.

Patriots d needs to hit harder to generate some turnovers. And stop using schemes that put Chris Long covering Jimmy Graham.. WTH was that...

No more zone schemes. They simply magnify our deficiencies. Rush 4, high or Roberts on a delayed blitz. Play press man outside. Ryan rides the pibe in favor of Rowe, who sees safety help while matched up with the toughest cover. His 2 dpi calls were garbage. Get him on the field and let him do hus thing. We dont have the personell for that candy ass drop 8 zone nonsense. If High is dropping out 15 yards at the snap....wtf. Stupid ass scheme. Patricia shoukd ride a short bus to gillette all week after drawing up that abortion.

Agreed.

Coleman needs to benched as well. The CBs they have who are sticky are Malcolm, Rowe, Cyrus and Jonathan Jones.

As you say Ryan is quick in space zone coverage CB who is not physical or fast enough to play in press man coverage. Coleman doesn't have the length.

Accurate. I give an A+ for creativity but a D- for execution.

Rushing 4 was pointless, so why not drop everybody in coverage

Correct

Ryan did well last year because there was a decent pass rush.

Ryan is not doing well this year because they are not generating enough pressure on the Qb

Overall I've been ok with him as CB2 but last night there were bad matchups all over theplace for him.

It was just like the Super bowl.

They should have played more man

Coleman is horrible on the outside. I don't know why they continue to use him out there. He is another Arrington.

Just like Sb49, Ryan was scorched. The dude cannot play man consistently.

They should have played Rowe and Jones in the slot and more man vs those shifty WRs.

Bad game plan, bad choice for inactive bad tactics.

Coleman and/or Ryan needs to stay in the slot, let Rowe play outside. How much have we seen of Jones in the slot? Has he done well?

I don't know because they still sucked? lol

Not trying to be funny but yea even with 9 back there they still had two receivers open. Why not BLITZ? lol Like we barely blitzed at all.

Wilson was pressured on 44% of his dropbacks.

There you have it then. Didn't feel like it as it seemed like he had all day to throw back there. Like one play still sticks in my head and it was the TD pass he threw right before the half.

My fix would include increasing Flowers' snaps and decreasing the snaps of Sheard and Long, having Chung play closer to the LOS and using him in more of a hybrid role still (he has no business playing deep), and making your starting CB corps Butler and Rowe on the outside and Jones as the nickel corner. I think that's probably the best line-up you can put on the field and, even then, you still need help after the season is over. They have to make some tweaks though and they can't put that trash bag game plan on the field every week or else they aren't going anywhere this year.

I'm not sure Ryan is even good in the slot anymore. Hes not physical enough. At least Arrington would manhandle people.

IMO I thought C. Jones was OK - not great in the slot. Some may disagree but at this point hes worth a shot.

This D has no playmakers. None. They dumped their two best players and think they can get something out of players that have failed in other places. But this year they can't.

Can't have a plumber doing brain surgery. Just doing your job dos not work if you are not qualified.
Id franchise and Trade Butler
Sheard has taken a big step back this season.
I would let him and Chris Long walk.
Re up Mingo
Draft pass rushers and tall defensivebacks in the Rowe mold.

Please dont think I think Butlers a bad player I just dont want to pay him elite money.

This place is turning into an episode of Felger and Mazz.

Everyone thinks they know everything better than BB & co despite only being exposed to the team during matchdays, not knowing what happens everyday in practice. The reaction to a loss against the Seahawks makes you think we got raped KC-style or are barely at 0.5.

The ****ing team is 7-2, has a playoff ticket essentially booked and is about to go into 3 preseason games in the middle of November.

Sometimes I wonder how many of you actually want to see them fail just to be able to ***** about the coaching staff.

Oh the ball washer post

It's really hard to call this soft as f#ck zone scheme "coverage". You could drop everyone into that BS and still have any QB find the guys settling into those holes. So frustrating.

They were faring much better in man to man coverage either. Butler held his own, for the most part, but Ryan was getting abused left and right. Unless they're going to move Ryan to safety or they're going to have him cover shiftier players, he has no business being on the field. He's an absolute liability.

From the trade of Collins at LB, to the exchange of Flowers for Sheard on the edge, and especially the season long rotation/benching of CBs Coleman, Ryan and Rowe (perhaps next week we see one or both of the Jones boys get a shot), it is apparent from the merry-go-round of personnel changes that the coaches are still making major moves in search of the right groupings on defense. So far, they haven't found it, and last night didn't offer a lot of hope. Let's hope they can turn things around in the time that remains.

A CB shouldn't be your best tackler on defense

A CB shouldn't be your hardest hitter on defense

Butler needs to call a defensive meeting and install some fire into these guys

The issue is that Patricia is so goddamned worried about Russell Wilson running the ball that he's afraid to run a myriad of blitz packages against him. And he's banking on our secondary to bail em out, which failed miserably. Patricia needs to get his head out of his ass for starters.
