Honestly have no idea how that Defense can be fixed

They were faring much better in man to man coverage either. Butler held his own, for the most part, but Ryan was getting abused left and right. Unless they're going to move Ryan to safety or they're going to have him cover shiftier players, he has no business being on the field. He's an absolute liability.

He really did have a terrible game. I would still rather see them pressing and being a little more aggressive in man more though. If they get burnt here and there how is that worse than just literally letting teams march down the field unopposed? I trust these coaches, they are doing what they are doing for a reason but as a fan, that scheme is tough to watch.

It really is frustrating. I went into this game thinking it would be a win mainly because Seattle's offense is anemic and ranked 26th and ours is well pretty damn good. Losing the turnover battle was the killer here. All other stats were pretty much even.

I guess I am just hoping this was piss poor game planning defensively because if it's not we are in trouble.

Straw man. Seattles D has nothing to do with the Pats D.

Is Malcolm Butler better playing 20 yards off or playing press man? How many wide open passes were completed without a defender in sight.

The Pats O is SO good they make good Ds look bad. Seattle was right there everytime and made TB be perfect with his passes. Just look at this sideline throws to Edelman and Gronk. They earned everyone of this yards they got.

Seattle was given every single yard on a silver platter. Disgusting. If this is personnel related, well that's on you BB. And it probably is.

Excellent Post when was the last time some Team cleaned up on Gronk like that? We got the $h!t beat out of us on both sides of the ball playing a real Physical Team. Newsflash those are the Teams we'll face in the Playoffs.

The game plan was absolute garbage. Just a heap of ****. That said, the Pats have some very real glaring holes at some positions on the defense that definitely contributed as well. They didn't trust any of their corners outside of Butler and didn't trust the front seven to contain Wilson if he decided to scramble which is the reason they played so much off zone.

Pretty bad that they played so schitty coming off a bye and Seattle has a shirt week... Actually make it kind of embarrassing

The Seahawks' past offensive performances are irrelevant right now. For that offense to work behind that offensive line,Wilson needs to he able to evade pressure. When he was hurt and couldn't run around, the offense was usually awful. Now that he's getting healthy and extending plays, the offense is working as intended.

the sky has fallen......I repeat, the sky has fallen

Defense still win's championships and right now i don't see a defense that can make critical stops. It's frustrating. Our pass defense stinks. Our d line has been one of the most dissapointing aspect of this team.

Seattle's offense has been anemic because Wilson has been hurt and their running game was anemic. Wilson has been getting healthy. Last week it started to show. Also now, with C.J. Prosise taking on most of the running duties, they now have a dynamic running game. The Seahawk's offense is much improved from just a couple of weeks ago. They are a little bit like the Pats with Dion now because they also have a huge TE threat. The biggest difference is Wilson's mobility. I'm sure they'll be climbing up the offensive ranks in the next few weeks and will be getting even stronger if the returning Rawls can be as productive as he was last year. I'm not surprised they beat the Pats at all. They are basically the Pats but with a better defense.

Depends on what you classify as critical.

They made a ton of 3rd down stops that forced SEA to kick FGs.

They also allowed several inexcusable 3rd down conversions and two cupcake TDs.

The JE11 fumble was a death blow.

Well sometimes you need 3 and outs. It's bend but dont break. They stay on the field too long. I feel they need to play more man.

I remember having a pass rush once... those were fun times.

Belichick is willing to sabotage his defense during a Super Bowl run just so he gets compensation for players he doesn't want to sign. He may "win" on the draft board but it's having disastrous effects on the field and it will most likely cost us during the playoffs.

Yes, the Pats D was exposed last night. They got exposed by a great team which we haven't played yet.

Now, hopefully, the coaching staff can use this game to build on. I have confidence they will get stronger and more cohesive. Luckily we have upcoming teams in which we can try out some new philosophies and still have a strong chance of winning. I'd like to take the optimistic view that last night, in the long run, might help this team discover its weaknesses and work to strengthen them. Better now than in the playoffs.

We were a yard away from tying one of the elite teams in regulation. Since we are 7-2 and this wasn't a playoff game I think we have the luxury of breathing room to get our act together.

here is a good barometer for the problem:

Brady admitted post-game that his first down sneak was just to kill the clock. He has so little confidence in the defense that he thought killing seconds was more important than the down. Unbelievable.

Separately that two man rush at the end of the 1st half was maddening. You might as well drop all 11 into coverage since 2 guys being blocked by 5 will never get to the QB.

Their man coverage was certainly less ugly, but I'm not sure it was any more effective. "More man" is just asking then to run more pick plays or get their running back isolated on a linebacker. Or like that one third down, a pick play to their running back against a linebacker.

coming off a bye...we were unprepared and were thoroughly outplayed.

the defense stinks. no pass rush, mediocre cb's. seriously logan ryan is awful, same with justin coleman. talk about two guys who have regressed.

......brady or bust. sad, he's 40 yet has to carry a team. so much for things getting easier when you're old. this is all on BB.

They were awful last night. They've been mediocre all season with exceptions here and there.

We cannot win a Super Bowl if that is the level our defense plays at. There were breakdowns left and right. Most all of the players last night did poorly. The coaching was not very good either. I wanted to rip my hair out watching that two man rush which was eviscerated four plays in a row en route to a Hawks TD.

There are three basic problems with this defense: they struggle bringing pressure, they struggle in coverage, they have been almost non existent in forcing turnovers, particularly interceptions.

Our DB corps is dreadful. Sometimes Malcolm Butler can disguise how bad we are at corner but not lately. Coleman is trash, Logan Ryan has regressed back to JAG status and sometimes he looks worse than JAG. Rowe hasn't been all that inspiring either.

Maybe it's time to give Cyrus Jones another go at corner? How much worse can he be?

Early on I gave Bill the benefit of the doubt on getting rid of Chandler a year early and was skeptical about the Collins trade but if last night was a sign of anything we could use all the talent we can get.

When we win the SB in February people like you will just claim that we won it despite not because of the coaching staff. There is no reasoning with "fans" that think they know it better/more than BB & co.

Nobody here, NOBODY here knows more than the coaching or even thinks they know more than the coaching staff.....

Guess what? We know less than even the worst coaches in the NFL. that doesn't mean we can't recognize when something is lacking. Just because we think something is off doesn't mean we can fix it
