Hollins As A Special Teamer

Three is typically my limit.
2-3 bites, everyone knows the rule.

because there is a way he does make the team.
if Polk is IR's, and Bourne is traded, Chism might tail off. Baker may never understand the new offense.
in that scenario, Hollins is here.
if none of that comes to pass, Hollins is by no means certain
There is a way he does is different that THERE IS NO REASON HE WONT

I was going to attempt to figure out how this thread is up to 300 responses.

The guy is certainly uncertain. At this point, you'd say he is one of many. He has nothing to prove because he has nothing to prove. Time is on his side for better or worse. He is a guy some would say could be relied on to do his job with maximum effort. He worked his ass off to get back on the field. Coaches love his ability to fit in (that's what she said).

Here is a Hollins fun fact.

The one season that Hollins had in Vegas with McDaniels he accumulated 690 recieving yards and 4 TDs.

McDaniels was fired. Technically he was fired 5 games into the next season, but facts don't matter.

Danny Amendola never had a season with more than 689 recieving yards and 4 TDs. Sometimes it's more important when you caught a pass and when you scored a TD rather than impressive fantasy football statistics.

Amendola played on 5 teams. Welker and Moss played on 5 teams. Diggs is on his 4th team.

Hollins played 94% of the snaps 1030 of them and had 57 catches for 690 yards.

That is 55 for 670 per 1000 snaps

Amendola in 5 years in NE played 2458 snaps
He caught 230 passes for 2383 yards or
94 catches and 969 yards per 1000 snaps.
71% more catches and 40% more yards.

This is the point. Thank you.
It should also be noted that Amendola was a success because of his post season play, which was also about 50% better than his reg season.
Amendola averaged 3.3 catches for 34.5 yards a game in the regular season, so we aren’t exactly comparing to a hall of famer

Welker, Moss and Diggs didn’t play for 5 teams in 5 years.
None were ever not brought back by their team until they were cooked.

Come back when you want to post something honest.

Yep.

At the end of the day what matters is if the player does the job asked of them and contributed to the team in a positive way. Making catches. Blocking on running plays. System knowledge. Contributing on special teams. Players that play for multiple teams for multiple years are recognized for doing that.
That's why they have a job year in and year out and why they have value to NFL teams.

He missed a whole bunch of the initial practices, but on his very first day back he's playing with the ones. That tells me he is clearly ahead of Bourne/Polk/Chism/Baker/etc. and not just here because he can also play special teams.

Just like Hollins catching his TD pass from Allen in the 2024 AFC Championship. Big game, big play, Hollins did his job when his number came up.

Parcells and BB counted on players like that to the tune of 8 Super Bowl Championsips. Vrabel and McDaniels are building a team in that mold.

The clueless Liars [who will go unamed] want to rely on draft busts who have accomplished nothing in the NFL. They want to cut the same players who were brought in to replace the freeloading draft busts. Vrabel brought in 4 new WRs, but the clueless want to the bums to stay instead.

Not me. I don't want the 31st NFL offense back.

I believe young players can change their ways, improve, and find their niche in the NFL - like Hollins has.

Now it's up to the coaches to determine the ceiling of said young fringe players and can they help them win now.

Maybe Boutte has done enough for a chance to stay.

I went back and re read my 7 or 8 posts on this thread, and can see I never said such thing. In fact, I have repeatedly said the opposite.

He produced last year and seems to be with the program this year. He seems to be tracking as making the team
I will be mildly shocked if he doesn't make the team.
Vrabel brought in 4 new WRs
This part really can't be overlooked. They moved on from all the old leadership, that was certainly by design. Diggs, Williams, Chism, Hollins are all fresh, clean slates. Does that mean that Pop, Boutte, Bourne, Polk, and Baker are all out? No, but there's a better than a fighters chance the the four new guys make it. As I stated above, Boutte looks like he's going to make it.

What did George Bernard Shaw say about wrestling with pigs?

clearly, the new staff had questions about Boutte, Polk, Baker and Bourne, and if they were going to be up to the task.
the first move they made at WR after signing McD was Hollins.
imo, that sent a message to the holdover 4, that Hollins is coming in to alter the WR room mind set, push everyone in practice and lead by example, not by talking.
the next moves were also telling. Investing a #2 in Williams. giving Chism very strong UDFA money. paying Diggs more money than the franchise has ever paid a WR.
still, best players make the roster and play.
remains to be seen if that is Hollins or not.
