Hightower out for the year with a torn pec

If the pec was known to be a risk at the time of the extension I wonder what protections the team has in the contract in the event Hightower's career goes by the way of Mayo's . Hopefully they have something to get out from under it if they need to

Pats seem to have to have bad luck with star LBs.

"Funny" that after the 2015 season we were wondering which of Collins/Jones/HT we would have. Now we have none(playing at least).

The pec injury has been devastating to LBs here.
Ted Johnson was a beast, becoming the best 43 MLB in the NFL before it, and was a shadow of himself after.
Mayo's career cut short by it.
Now HT.

Probably the 3 best LBs we have had in the last 30 years, all brutalized by the pec injury.

Huge loss. That could be the difference between a SB and another AFCCG loss. Darn it. Pittsburgh and Oakland are healthy and KC only has Berry out, with Houston etc still in line up.

Last year we were better than everyone else by a Gronk and a Collins.
This year are we better than everyone else by an Edelman and a Hightower?

If the trending toward holding teams to longer 3d down and distance continues, this injury is much more recoverable. Improved play from Branch, using Harris in the early downs, and continued good play from Guy and Brown are key.

Then they would still have the flex to use DBs to cover RBs rather than our rather poor coverage skills at that LB position in 3d down if teams can be kept to more 5+ yard down and distance scenarios.

The pass rush part though remains a decline regardless with this loss.

Gutted. Absolutely gutted. Makes me wish we had bowman, but hindsight is 20/20...

We will be okay BB will be thinking..

Get Peppers or call Nink.

Adding either is better than having no pass rush.
Using the guys we have in the roster would be a better pash rush than these guys.

Will be happy if he's back for the playoffs. The offenses left on the schedule, with the exception of Pittsburgh, are high school level offenses that poses exactly 0 threat. And even when NE gets to Pittsburgh, we all know what usually happens in those games.

As long as he's back by the playoffs, it's all good. Schefter's tweet makes it seem possible.

Like Gronk, he's well worth the money when healthy. Unfortunately he's becoming injury prone.
