Hightower INACTIVE

Reiss has Hightower inactive knee and repeats that in another tweet. On the subject, Simon is playing LB. He's a vet, maybe he can help.

Simon (coming off a shoulder injury) was around the ball a lot. I thought he'd get credit for a 1/2 sack tonight, but it wasn't scored that way.

Hightower is very good when healthy, but man the guy has been injured a bunch over the last few years...MLB is a demanding position and unfortunately you won’t have a long career these days. We need to draft well this upcoming offseason.

Obviously need to beef up the position, but we won't easily replace Hightower. I'm guessing he was rested against an easier opponent so he's ready for the stretch run.

I know, can’t replace a veteran LB during the season unless they are named Mack or Kuechly..
We shall see if he can hold up the remainder of the season.

They aren't going to field a team of all pros. If Simon can make the position switch and High rest a bit, they might have enough LB strength. I think we've got lots of strength at DBand some latent strength at DE/OLB without Simon.

We were facing a team that has Derek Anderson/Nathan Peterman as their top QBs, and Kelvin Benjamin as their WR1.

I'm okay with resting Hightower for this game. I think if today was a Playoff game he would have played through it.

It's not really a position switch for Simon to play off the ball. He's been an OLB/DE in 3-4 defenses with BAL, HOU and IND, playing something like the old "elephant" role from the Pats' 3-4 under Crennel. While Simon is not exactly WillieMac , he does appear comfortable in the role.

In his Pats debut v MIA (wk-4), he set the edge well, had 5 tackles and a sack. Last night, playing only 13 snaps in his first game back after injuring his shoulder against Indy (wk-5), he had 2 tackles and what I thought was a shared sack, although it wasn't officially scored as such.

Anyway, he seems like he can be a versatile chess piece on the edge for the Pats. With Simon, KVN, HT, Flowers, Wise, Davis and Rivers, the Pats now have a cupboard well-stocked with guys who are at least competent playing the edge, and in a variety of roles - enormous change from last season.

I loved how stout our defense was against the run even without HT. The defense won the game for us.
This game further proves how 300 yards passing is a useless milestone in today’s NFL...Means absolutely nothing.
Our offense and especially TB12 seemed confused for pretty much the whole night.

The Bills defense (Frazier) is a lot tougher, more creative, disciplined and aware than I thought it would be. The Bears defense (Fangio) was not nearly as tough as I thought it would be.

Pettine's defense against the Rams on Sunday was remarkably good. The Packers aren't likely to be an easy out for the Pats next week.

It will be an interesting chess match between BB and Pettine. They know each other pretty well at this point. The margin for error will be closer than what a lot of people think and a lot will depend on whether Michel (and the running game) is back.

Mason too. I'm aware that Green Bay doesn't have a DT the caliber of Williams, but Karras looked overwhelmed last night.

I agree. The Buffalo D is pretty good. Their O is terrible but most junk QBs look great against the Pats. I think this game is going to be UGLY and a nail biter. The game day thread will be full on dumpster fire...

Boy, I can call it can't I!!!
