Time to say the quiet part out loud, assuming health the Patriots defensive line and defense as a whole is a top five unit. This is great practice for this O-Line.

Some people here are posting ridiculous takes…. wait to see the depth chart entering week one, then you can panic.
Not panicking but top 5 seems a little rich.

Getting Alt would have been nice but he is not a generational talent like an Orlando Pace
I agree. Olu Fashanu was my OT1 last year. He’s something special. He’s dominating every rep in TC.

Im in the wrong thread but 4 teams passed on HOFer Josh Simmons - NE, NYJ,NO and Wash.

KC took him, but if Ozzy Trapoli is all that then why didnt any of the OL needy teams take him in round 1?

Arms too long?

The 30 year old cliff is a real thing in football.
And Go Down to IR Moses is today 34 years, five months old. (Birthday 03/03/1991.) And he’s our starting RT? If he get injured as seems likely I guess Onwenu moves out. Who then plays RG?

This team lacks depth on the OL. The Bills have better depth. No contest.

I think the Patriots could be a playoff team this upcoming season.
Whatever you’re smoking, can you hook me up? The Dude wants to abide.

Chase Lundt is getting terrible write ups.
From a fake Facebook page.

Chase Lundt, a four year starter at RT, has Will Campbell arms, below 33”. That’s why he was taken in the sixth round (206).

Yeah, Landon Jackson has rocked him in TC. He did that to Will Campbell, too.

Hey, that’s Will Campbell’s girlfriend’s brother playing QB for LSU. And he got obliterated.

I hope he’s okay. Maybe Lambeau12 can give him some of his Magic Dragon to puff on.

You guys could compete with the Bills for the division.

That would take some key injuries on the Bills, and a great season from Maye. Going from worst to first is a big ask, I’ll be fine with getting a wild card spot, or a really good run at one.

How many tackles pan out after the 1st round?
How many QBs?

There's your answer.

QBs are much harder to find

The year before last with much of the same personnel (lesser personnel) the defense ranked 5th in points allowed (per drive), 3rd in yards allowed and had the 4th lowest scoring percentage in the NFL.

They did this ^ dragging the 32nd, dead last offense behind them like a large anchor. The coaches are not the defensive mastermind that Belichick is, but the personnel is better. Assuming health it’s highly likely.

The constant switching from one inadequate player to the next reminds me of nothing so much as a compulsive gambler who thinks he can bet his way out of debt. Last season's Patriots offensive line coach is now the offensive line coach of the Cincinnati Bengals, so those outside the Patriots don't blame him. But the man who churned all of those players in and out is still in charge of personnel.

Yes, they were literally rolling the dice last season just trying guys out at different positions, trying to see what they had in their current personnel.

Sometimes you wind up finding a diamond in the rough. In our case I think they figured out who is a backup and who is off the roster.

I hope I'm wrong but while I think think they will be much better with Campbell alone (who might not be the long term LT) OL will continue to be a work in progress into next offseason.

If they could have gotten more/better veterans in the offseason they would have - but they couldn't.

Wilson slipping into the starting LG spot is a major surprise (if that's what's happening) - nobody saw that coming with both Strange and Sow healthy. I thought there was a good chance we'd see Wilson steal the Center spot but not LG.

While OT is a little suspect with a rookie at LT and an old guy at RT, with a rookie backup LT and a Jacobs as backup RT, it's worrisome but we could be ok. It's still early and possibly we'll see Wallace kick out to OT as backup. One thing I've noticed about almost all these guys is they're very articulate & smart, which counts for something especially learning a new offense.

The 3 main questions I have are what's going to happen to Strange, Sow, and Wallace.

The 2025 draft was not a good QB draft.

Though I do believe that Jaxson Dart for the G men will be pretty good.

Take a LT in a QB draft and a QB in a LT draft sure is thinking out of the box. You'll be living in a box too when it all blows up as a failure.

No. Didn’t you watch the SB? Patrick Mahomes lost cuz TRex Thuney was the liability at LT against Milton Williams.

Some of us are worried about our own TRex in Stubby Campbell.
Mahomes has 3 superbowl wins and just played in the superbowl. The Chiefs had the entire nation rooting against them because they are the best team of the decade.

So yeah give me Mahomes and his multiple superbowl wins and 5 superbowl appearances over Joe Thomas HOF LT and his zero playoff appearances everyday.

Similar concern. Third year. Maybe LT is upgraded enough. Probably not in obvious passing situations. And Morgan Moses playing most or all the season seems unlikely. So Onwenu gets moved out again?

I’ve had a Jerry Maguire moment. Instead of drafting shiny new toy Drake Maye, this important OL concern should have been addressed first.

Teams are built from the inside-out.
Marrone seems very high on D Jacobs and maybe Marcus Bryant is much better than regarded. We still have even though I hate his play: V Lowe in the wings. Maybe Marrone pulls a Scar on some of these guys... never ignore Good Coaching. That said I'm disappointed Caedan Wallace is out of the RT running.

Cute. You feel good about Jaxson Dart under center instead? That’s what you would’ve gotten.

And like him or not, Will Campbell was the best LT in the 2025 draft - so kindof tough to complain about that.

No doubt they wanted to sign a proven LT in the offseason but that didn't work out, and kindof tough to blame Vrabel for no one wanting to play for the Pats at this point. He did what he could at LT - there's just bound to be more work to do on the OL in general.
