I thought it would be useful to have a thread to discuss all the HC vacancies in the league, to keep track of the competitive landscape the Patriots face as they try to rebuild the coaching staff.

At present (Monday 1/6) there are five teams with head coaching vacancies:

Chicago Bears
Jacksonville Jaguars
New England Patriots
New Orleans Saints
New York Jets

According to ESPN story linked below Jackson is keeping their GM despite firing their HC.
We know the Patriots GM position is not presently vacant but may be in play.
It seems likely Woody Johnson is keeping Joe Douglas as GM, as he reportedly conferred with Douglas before firing Saleh, but it’s unconfirmed.
No indications about GM status in Chicago or New Orleans.

We know Vrabel has interviewed with the Jets.
I saw a comment in one of the threads about Mayo’s firing that said Ben Johnson had agreed to interview with the Patriots but declined to interview with the Jets.
Have not seen anything else about interviews.

Tracking NFL head coach firings: Jaguars, Patriots, Bears, Saints, Jets have openings

Pretty sure the jets **** canned Douglas

I feel like you inadvertently uncovered why Bill took a College job.

5 openings: despite rumors I don't believe Jets for a second. We were obviously out. Down to 3. If the other 3 end up keeping their GM then there's your answer.

Yes, he was fired in mid-November.

I should’ve known that. IIRC at the time it was considered another scalp for Rodger’s collection.
