No, he hasn't. And considering the injuries this team has endured on a yearly basis for around a decade, carrying three quarterbacks is a luxury that this team can't afford currently. Maintaining adequate depth at the back end of the roster for a razor thin DT position, DE, OL, and DB should take precedence.

Can you really call someone who has been in the league 4 years raw?

Tebow is raw from the standpoint that he has only been allowed to start for about 2/3 of a season. During that period he turned around a team that was 1-4 and even won a playoff game. He didn't get to start with the Jets because Rex Ryan is the worst coach in the history of the universe and he is in the middle of learning maybe not an entire playbook but certainly McDaniels does not have entirely the same package of plays that he had in Denver.

Tebow gives you versatility on offense that whatever 3rd string scrubs you want to keep don't. He can line up in McDaniels' wildhorse, Tight End, Fullback, Halfback and Special Teams. He's a student of the game and athletic enough to play and succeed in multiple positions.

Keep Tebow.

Again, the Patriots should have no problem keeping Tebow around in some capacity even if they cut him. I mean, after this preseason's performance, what team is going to sign Tebow if NE lets him go? Cut him and shadow-roster him.

I can see the Jets signing Tebow after Geno Smith and Mark Sanchez implode. Rex Ryan is too stupid to give Matt Simms a shot.

I don't hate Christians, though some of them do annoy me at times when they bring religion into everything and start getting preachy.

Hopefully you realize I was joking. imo the Tebow fans think the patriots have an extra roster spot that they can spare for Tebow, i couldn't disagree more and think that using that spot for a 4th year project is a complete waste and detrimental to the team. i also believe that we routinely use camp and pre-season to judge whether or not a player has made the team, and it is based upon performance and debated as such, for some reason that is considered to be an unfair method for deciding whether or not tebow should be on the team. I had no problem with Tebow supporters coming to this site and didn't take any issue with them until the debate over whether he should make the team came up as cuts closed in. In all my years as patriot fan, ie...my whole life, i have never ever seen a player come in and play this bad and still have people clamoring for their presence on the team. in every other case where a player has really stunk it up their supporters have generally acknowledged that they played like hell and deserved to be cut, and that is what makes this debate the exception to the rule, as well as the presence of that player's supporters who were actually rooting against the Patriots and for their archrivals the past few years.

Tom Brady regular season stats from 2000:

1 for 3 for 6 yards, 33% completion percentage 0 tds

Brady didn't do much better than Tebow. Both players were learning new offenses. Would you have cut Tom Brady too?

You mean the same Rex Ryan that took his Jets to two AFC Championship games where his team won every playoff game on the road to get there?

You mean him? That guy?

I hardly call that "the worst coach in the history of the universe".

You not liking what happened to Tebow as a Jet =/= the Jets coach is the "worst in the history of the universe"

Obvious troll is obvious.

Such a huge sample size.

No, just no. The Patriots already keep more than enough special teams only players for my taste. And taking any skill position player off the field on offense for Tebow is silly since he's never played Fullback, Halfback, or Tight End.

Also since we have a surefire first ballet HOF quarterback, 3 time Superbowl Champion, 2 time Superbowl MVP, 2 time MVP(who was the first to every win unanimously), with 26 fourth quarter comebacks and 37 game winning drives. I don't think we need the wildhorse formation.

There's still a bad taste in my mouth from last year's silly trick plays that almost never worked, usually ended up stalling drives, and destroyed positive momentum.

Mike Vrabel hadn't played HB until he did. Seemed to work out pretty well.

Mark Sanchez is better than Tim Tebow and that's it.
-- Joe Montana

I think a legend like Joe Montana ought to know what he's talking about.

Tebow has started 2/3 of an NFL season as a QB and in that time he had a winning record and won a playoff game. The only sample size we have of Tebow is that and he played at basically an elite level yet the pc hate mafia is out in force yelling for the Pats to cut him and keep some 4th string DT or DB over him.

I was hoping Tebow would perform better than he has in his pre season game showings. Would have loved to see him do something positive for Pats like fill in admirably for Mallet in the most probable scenario that shows if Brady goes down to injury so too, will Mallet, opening the way for miracles in New England but....
He hasn't shown enough to be a third string QB never mind starter.
Of course maybe there is something BB sees that I don't.
After all, he has 4 SB rings, 6 conference championships, etc etc and I'm just a schmuck behind a computer with ill informed opinions.

First of all *he* didn't have a winning record, his team did. QB's do not win games, teams do.

And there is nothing about Tebow's stats that suggest he played at an elite level. Exciting to watch, no doubt. Elite? err...no.

And nobody here "hates" him.
