On June 17, 2000, Ian Logue registered the domain name PatsFans.com, and as the cliche goes, the rest is history.

While hundreds of other fan websites have come and gone, this one is still going strong. I'm guessing that PatsFans is the largest independent fan sports website in the country.

Thanks for all your hard work,

Sincerely,
All of us.

Saw this in the box off to the right as a reminder ->

Came here back in the old KFFL days in 2001 I think. Or at least so far back I can't remember exactly when. "Only" 17000 posts so far, but I'm a proud regular in my own fashion.

Thanks Ian

Maaaaaaaaaaan I was gonna post some old screens of the site from when it started from the wayback machine but looks like it's down...Just to show those that weren't around what it's evolved from but looks like its down a la 503 errors. Maybe later....But yea thanks @Ian for taking that step as a fan and creating something we fans can all enjoy!

LOL, thanks @jmt57 and to everybody else. I don't think there are too many of us left from back in the day, and it's still a little crazy that it's been this long. It feels like it, but it doesn't feel like it - if that makes sense?

And @PancakeBlockPaul , I hear you. I grabbed a bunch of screenshots a while ago from there, and a lot of our old content. I went back the other day looking for something, and I noticed that it's starting to have issues. That's unfortunate, and I was sad to see that.

Here's what this place looked like originally:

Here's a quick stack from over the years:

Honestly, and I've said this a lot, it's the people in here, and all the mods we've had who helped out with this place over the last two decades, that have helped me make it this far. It's the people who make communities special, and it's crazy when I look back at everyone I've been lucky enough to meet over the years. This will forever go down as one of the coolest things I've ever done, and it's the relationships with everybody that are still driving me to keep it going.

It's still surreal all the people who have come through and been a part of this place, especially the ones who are still here after over 20-years. My job is to try to keep things running from a technical standpoint and not screw it up, but without everybody here, it would just be an empty forum that nobody cares about. At the same time, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the ones we've lost, and that's probably been the most difficult reality that's hit me. But I just try to remind myself to be grateful for the experience of knowing them. I'm definitely lucky, and honored they picked here to spend a good part of their lives. It's extremely humbling.

I know it hasn't been perfect, and there have been struggles at various points throughout this, but I'm grateful to everyone for their support, not just for donating, but for all the notes, messages, emails, etc. Many of you got me through the frustrating parts of this journey, and definitely couldn't have gotten this far - or continue moving forward - without you. So thank you. And thank you all for helping keep our little corner of the internet going. I'm 50 now and hoping I've got another 20+ more in me. We'll see how that goes.

With that said, I know people haven't seen many changes this offseason, but as always, I have been working on something new. There's a cool section coming within the next week. Been working on it for the last couple of months and trying to get it perfect, and it's come out surprisingly well, so I'm excited to show it to you guys.

I think I found PatsFans in 2005 or 2006. I have an old picture my ex-wife took of me while I was on our laptop and PatsFans is on the screen. It was either 2005 or 2006. I think I originally found something called DraftFans, while researching the draft, and there was a drop down menu that allowed you to select individual teams, and of course I selected the Pats. Ian or others can confirm this, maybe I’m confused and my memory is off, but I think that’s how it was.

I lost my password somehow several years back, I think it was a software glitch, and Ian was kind enough to fix it for me, but I think my profile states I joined much later than I originally did.

Yes, Bill Johnson, who was originally part of an old Raiders site, started NFLFans and a network of sites that he was kind enough to add me to. He passed away many years ago from cancer, but he played a massive part in all of this. He was also the one who helped me become part of Rivals, and when we learned that was going away, he was the one who originally helped me with hosting for this place and for helping me set up a proper forum.

Without him, I can honestly say this place absolutely wouldn't be here because he was the one who taught me all the key technical parts that made possible for me to start everything. He was just an absolutely incredible person, and he played the most critical role in all of this. Had it not been for him, it never would have happened because I didn't know enough back then to have been able to pull it off.

This place is awesome. Congratulations on the milestone and thanks for creating such a haven!

Thanks for the reply and clarification Ian. I’m 63 years old now, and my memory isn’t as good as it used to be, so it’s good to hear I remembered it correctly.

My thoughts go out to Bill Johnson’s friends and family, he created a great thing (NFLFans) which led to me finding PatsFans.

And many thanks go to you Ian, I literally have visited your message board thousands of times since you created it. It brought thousands of Pat’s fans together to discuss everything Patriot’s and my other passion, the Patriot’s Draft board.

You'll definitely have to post that photo of you with that laptop screenshot. Would certainly be cool to see it.

Yeah, I’ll send it to my phone and then post it in this thread. I haven’t been on my laptop in years, so have to find the pic.

I stuck with boston.com until the bitter end, I liked the chaos and volume of posts. I migrated to the other forum because a small friend group was there but I eventually created an account here… even if it took me years to commit.

But this site has clearly evolved into the best one. Clear and fair moderation setting it apart. Ease of use and cool features keep it aloft.

Cheers Ian… good job.

This makes me feel old(er).

Cheers

Thanks Everyone, I've been here far longer than it looks, and I've seen what Ian has built.
Great Job PatsFans Team.

I think Dabruinz and I both came here from the ESPN boards?

Feels like a million years ago. And like yesterday.

Congrats, Ian! And thank you.

Oddly enough, after taking a quick look, we're not the oldest in our division, and kudos to those guys who are still also fighting the good fight out there:

Like Ken, I think I also found this place after KFFL.
Haven't been there in forever, here multiple times a day.
