I honestly think, given that i could have looked at Garroppolo and Manziel videos, I would have picked Garrop, but i could be lying. I hate what I see on tape of JM. Totally careless with the ball, not fast guy making his living on running around that won't make it in the NFL. Good arm, but short.

Decision making absurd. Living definition of the college hero, NFL flop I've seen before.

If I had to pick one, I would have picked Gropp even before knowing what we've seen now. Not because I thought he would be any great shakes, but I just felt like Manziel had Ryan Leaf written all over him, so I would have gone with option B by default.

People are all focuses on the bad with JFF. He was amazing against a great Alabama defense two years in a row. I would draft JFF in this scenario then trade him. He would never want to be a backup for several years behind a great and durable QB.

Knowing what I know now, Garoppolo; In the context of our situation (sitting the QB behind Brady for a few years to develop), Garoppolo; As a stand-alone decision for a starting QB based on tape and knowledge at the time of the draft and in the second round, Manziel.

I would have picked Manziel without any hesitation whatsoever.

Having seen Garoppolo now, however, my decision would be different. In fairness, this is also not the first time I'd be wrong. While I still hate Manning, I would've been wrong to pick Leaf back in the day also, but were I a GM at the time, I would've gone with him over Seyton. And when the Pats picked Brady, I actually didn't care at all. I also rallied for BB to put Bledsoe back in and called him Bill Belichicken almost the entire season for failing to do so. (We then won the Superbowl and I yelled "haha I knew it" and called all my friends and in-your-faced them... Like I knew the whole time...)

It is probably good that I don't evaluate QBs professionally.

I'd have never drafted Manziel under any circumstances, so JG would win both on the merits and by default.

I'm not a hardcore draftnik, so I didn't really even know who Garoppolo was going into the draft. All I did know was that Manziel was very unlikely to fall to the Patriots and I was pretty certain that if he did, BB wouldn't have drafted him due to his playing style and off-field issues. I had zero issue with that.

I guess I would have gone with Garoppolo, but not because I had any idea about him, but because I didn't want Manziel at all really.

There's no doubt he had success against the toughest college competition. I see a lot of problems translating that to the NFL, however.
