WR: Robiskie, Kelly, Wallace, Nicks, Collie, Know, Butler
TE: Z. Miller, Cook, Gronkowski, Pascoe, Drew
FB - Henry Melton
RB - Ringer, Ian Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, D. Moore, Keegan Herring.

DEFENSE:
NT: Vaughn Martin, Knighton, Baker, S. L. Hill, Brace

Great list. I see a lot of my favorites on there, too. But . . . RB is noticeably absent. I know you said they wouldn't draft one, but then you state "those would be the ones I hope they look at," which implies that you've listed some names. Am I missing something?

Javon Ringer really needs to be sporting a Flying Elvis.

Yes, I updated the list after initially posting it *GRIN*

DeBruinz very nice list.

I really think that you have brainwashed me somehow over the last four months as I have many of those guys targeted as well and hope we can get at least 4 of the guys on your list. I will let you wonder on which 4

Sneaky.

If we're looking at third-down backs, I'd add Antone Smith to the mix. Small, but extremely strong (32 reps at his pro day, IIRC), very fast, and great sense of balance. He reminds me of MJD: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fbFCU4zHiY

I love short bowling balls who aren't afraid of contact, mostly because I am one. *grin*

I thought about him and about Barnhard Scott. The problem with both was character flags..

There is something I do want to say. Back at the end of the college season, I had judge Chung and Barnes too harshly... When I went back and reviewed them again, I found this and can admit that I was mistaken about them. I have since added them to my list of players I'd like the Patriots to grab.

This team needs a strong safety in the worse way.Harrison is my guy but he is doned.I want a young guy back there.

That wasn't the point of this thread. The point was to discuss particular players whom you'd like to see on the Patriots. There are probably 3-4 dpzen different threads on the needs of the Patriots.

What changed? What did you see that changed your mind.

For Barnes, in particular, I realized that he did have the quick twitch that BB likes.. And that I had misjudged his ball skills and his tackling ability. They aren't any worse than Samuels.

For Chung, though I was dead on about the lack of depth at the safety position in the draft, I was wrong about Chung in that I didn't think he had the leadership and game calling and play recognition abilities that the Pats look for. Reviewing the tapes, he has that. They are subtle though. He'll take a half step here or there, but that half step is what gets him into position..

What about michael Johnson from Georgia Tech.A freak athlete like Julius Peppers.Anyone like him as a player?

At 6-7 and 266, he could be the Pats new version of Willie McGinest at the Elephant position. The problem is that he gives up way too early on plays and doesn't play motivated. Plus, he gets maligned by injuries too often. And people already complain too much about Maroney (though Morris has missed the same amount of games). Can you imagine what would happen with Johnson?

I noticed you had a good list of LB's there. Most in the 3-4 mode. Did you change your mind on E. Brown or do you think he has enough athleticism to be coached into an OLB?

Everette Brown is one that almost didn't make my list. In the long term, his position might be ILB ala Bruschi, but if anyone can help a guy make that change its the Pats.

I liked the techniques that Brown showed in the Combine, but that was in shorts. He's probably the one guy that I have ????s as to where I see him fitting best.

Could be the HR threat (at RB) we need.

I love Johnson and feel he'll be a better linebacker than DE. That said, he's got the same conversion risk as all the rest of them, so I wouldn't select him high. Mid-late 2nd or early third should be his value.

Why do the Patriots need a home run threat at RB? And what makes you think that Antone Smith has the ability to take over for Faulk. Which is what he'd need to do... The knocks on him are that he's a lousy blocker, a mediocre receiver and doesn't run routes well. Not what the Pats need from a 3rd down back.
