Gronkowski Likely Facing Penalty From NFL After Hit On Sunday

I'm not about to read thru, close to 400 post's, I think Gronk was wrong...
..But

I think there are "wrong, dirty" plays in every game.

We got our Ass's kicked against Miami (physically).

Miami (Suh, Alonzo.,.) have been dirty for years... Nobody cares.

And, a lot of fan's were crying about (the Pats) not getting physical enough.
There were fan's saying, 'Hit these guy's back' .

I kind of like the "Dirty" moniker, myself.

F' it. The league as a whole hates us anyway.
...And the league, as a whole, is far from a Wholesome, family oriented, honest, choir boy image.

I, personally am sick of the one sided (Integrity) BS. Because, Integrity is BS in the NFL.

I hope teams fear us.

...Yeah, I'm a little Crazy. But I like being the bully a little bit. I'm tired of the Knight on white horse crap.

If I'm wrong, then so are 99.9 percent of honest, Non finger pointing fans the agree.

The 2 faced, PC, ones will disagree. But,.. well that's the point.
If fear keeps them from diving more often at our knees, then I guess it is all good. But if it causes us to get more cheap shots, then it wasn't worth it.

This has the look of a 1 game suspension to appease the rabid Twitter commenters that then gets overturned on appeal. Belichick will personally make Gronk suffer enough, I’m sure.

People keep talking about suspension for just the Miami game. With the garbage they pull in that Park Ave office, it's possible he gets suspended for 2 games. If that happens, we probably split MIA and PIT games and lose the 1 seed. I am mentally prepared for the league to screw us.

What matters isn't getting the #1 seed (as long as it isn't DEN), but having a first-round bye. The Pats have won the SB as the #2 seed (remember in 2004 PIT was the #1 seed), but they've never made it as a wild card.

FWIW, even Prime and Tomlinson both agreed Gronk shoudn't get any a single game. Personally, I can see the league handing him a 1 game suspension at worse, and Prime said if the league does that Gronk will appeal and win given what happened in the Talib/Crabtree and Ramsey/Green fights.

According to Five Thirty Eight, we're currently at 96% chance to get a first round bye. Pittsburgh is at 84%, followed by Jacksonville and Tennessee at 14% and 5% respectively. Unless we tank, we should be able to get the #2 without too much fuss.

After the election projections and giving Alabama a 28% chance to make the playoff field last night, FiveThirtyEight has gotten to be a complete joke.

That said, the only other competition would be JAX with four losses, so it’s hard to see them making up two full games with only four to play.

Nope. You pretty much insinuated Rodney was a troll and made no attempt to explain why he wasn't one when pressed. Pretty much you'd throw any former player under the bus to advance your agenda.
I'm pretty sure you have me confused with another poster, sport.

I expect murder comparisons tomorrow.

"So what if it's his first dirty play...blah blah blah.....you only have to murder someone once.....blah blah blah"

Tomorrow? It started right after the play.

"PATS ARE USED TO HAVING TEs WHO MURDER PEOPLE"

JFC.

I've trumpeted that many times on PF. Getting WC weekend off is the most tangential prize. It is HUGE!
With that said, HFA throughout most definitely isn't nuttin. That Den in Mile High is an example of that HFA having definite importance. But again no doubt whatsoever the difference between #4/#3 seed and #2 seed is much much bigger than the difference between #2 and #1.

Putting my being a fan aside, I could see the Patriots dropping one to the Steelers and one to the Bills or Jets in an upset. At 12-4, the Patriots would only miss the #2 if the Jaguars win out. A 12-4 Texans team can't reach the #2 due to tiebreakers (at least when I ran a playoff simulator).

Love Gronk, didn't like the hit. Could understand and honestly wouldn't really mind him missing a game. Only thing that worries me is guys using this as a bs excuse to go after his knees even harder.

I honestly don't know why this thread has gotten to 20 pages. Gronk, who has been treated differently, and unfairly, by the officials for years, did something stupid and dangerous out of frustration, and injured someone he had no call to injure. He'll get punished for it, and deservedly so. We have to assume that anything from a fine to a multi-game suspension will be on the table, and that the appeals process will deal with it, should Gronk feel the penalty is too harsh.

Beyond that, what the hell else is there to say?
Are you kidding? We can literally say anything. The possibilities are endless!!

The Deflategate thing wasn't something that's specifically covered in the rules so they used the general "integrity of the game" rule. Late hits are covered under the rules and CBA.
Actually, it was specifically covered in the rules and came with a maximum punishment. I believe it was 25K or something.

Gronk has got to be smarter then that. Playing the way he does, "throwing guys out of the club" (which was a clean play btw), he has got to understand that he is a target, and since he plays for the Pats he is even a bigger one. He F'd up, he was wrong and will face a harsh penalty. Big fine and a 1 game suspension is just, imo. However, I see a multiple game suspension so Gronk is not around for the Steelers game. The NFL knows that game is coming up and will ask themselves "How can we effect and hurt the Pats the most?"

Unless your not named the Patriots and then your penalty is a severe and swift "dont do that again!"

That's my concern. Some late season meaningless vendetta like Jeff Fisher/Rodney Harrison in 2006.

If it’s true that the hit came before the whistle blew then there’s no suspension coming.

Have to consider that the teams getting the byes were a lot better than the ones that were going 10-6 and playing wildcard weekend.

1985 they made it as a wild card
