Gronkowski is the best ever

I'm amazed that Gronk is not getting recognized as GOAT TE yet. He may be the most singularly dominant player in NFL history.

Well, that dude in KC is statistically better than Gronk is. Not by much but...there it is.

I think most people whose opinion is worth a damn recognize Gronk as the greatest tight end of all-time. And he isn't even 30 yet. The issue is longevity, as Gonzalez and others played at a high level well into their 30s and Gronk has injury problems.

He's an unstoppable, uncoverable force when he's in and he's on. He kills Buffalo all the time, which is why they drape themselves all over him. He'll be ready.

Gronk's missed two games this season and averages a full 3.5 yards per reception more than Kelce. He's also a better blocker, though Kelce's gotten better at it over the last couple seasons.

GOATS on this Patriot's team presently are as follows #1.BB, #2.TB12, #3.GRONK!! Lol. Rob "GRONK" Gronkowski is the best tight end in NFL history ever to play the game point blank that's all there is to it!!!

Gronk dominated throughout but wow that final drive was unbelievable. He seemed to decide 'enough ****ing around', and put the offense on his back. Gronk is clearly the GOAT TE, it's not even a question. When all else fails Brady has Gronk to go to and he never seems to disappoint.

You have to think that suspension and the piling on about him being a dirty player was driving him crazy the past two weeks. He was extra motivated to come in and redeem himself for missing the last game.

Glad he gave us that game instead of an apology.

He is the greatest all time when healthy. But IDK if he is the greatest all time overall. It depends how you define that. He is right now a fairly young 28.

He has 7112 yards and 75 TDs, He should easily pass guys like Olson, Smith and Newsome if he keeps playing to just 30... Oslon is still going but clearly on the decline. There are a lot of guys ahead of him and his body has taken a beating over the years. I will look just at stats and not blocking.

Gonzo - (37yrs old his last year) 15,127 111 TDs (done)
Witten - (35yrs old this year) 12,392 69 TDs (almost done)
Sharpe (35yrs old his last year) 10,060 68 TDs (done)
Gates (37yrs old this year) 11,381 113 TDs (almost done)

I wonder if he will be able to rack up the stats to be in this group. He might finish with the most TDs of all time but if he reaches much over 12,000 yards I will be kind of surprised.

Unlike these guys I don't see Gronk playing past age 32... 33 tops. If he plays till 37 and is fairly healthy the rest of the way he has a good chance to have more yards than Gonzo but I don't see it.

This 2017 Offense is as average as they come without him...Gotta hope the Big Boy stays healthy.

He is so deadly down the seem. I hope bulkhead injury isn't serious. Hopefully Britt can catch on, he's a big wr. Thought he looks like a te out there

I have a lot of respect for the legends like Mackey, Ditka, Casper etc. I've never seen them play so I defer to those who have. My dad says those guys were great but they were not the pure force of nature Gronk was. RW Sr. says Gronk is faster than Mackey and more powerful than Ditka.

I can speak to TEs who played after 1982 (Sharpe, Winslow, Newsome, TGon, etc) and all those who have the longevity and Gronk is the best all-around TE of them all. Maybe #2 in a very condensed period is Mark Bavaro but Gronk has more talent than Rambo.

Longevity does not equal greatness.

Gonzalez had both incredible single seasons and longevity and was both the best receiving and blocking tight end in football during his prime, with the possible exception of Antonio Gates who was never half the blocker.

That's not to say Gonzalez was better at his height than Gronk, because it isn't true, but among those whose playing days are over, Gonzalez is the clear best tight end of all-time.

Of note is how durable Gonzo was. Gronk's missed two games this season, albeit one to suspension. Gonzalez missed two games total in a seventeen year career.

If he plays and stays relatively healthy until 32-33 then I think he is GOAT of all time. While playing at the highest level for an extended period of time is important in the discussion. Being the greatest isn't just about volume stats. See P. Manning.
