How important is this guy to this team?

Field Yates @FieldYates

Since his season debut in Week 7, Rob Gronkowski has 433 receiving yards, 80 more than any other TE in that timeframe.

Best TE in the game for a reason

What's going to be really impressive is when Gronkowski hangs a thousand yards receiving season despite not debuting till week seven. Outside of Johnson Jr. there isn't a player who can do the things Gronkowski can do.

His talent is limitless. All Gronk needs to do is to stay healthy.

Johnson can't block like gronk. Gronk is a beast, I hope he stays healthy the rest of the season and playoffs.

2nd most important player on the offense. Him being back alone has altered the offensive scheming and the way teams defend the offense. That to me is just as, if not more, important than the actual statistical production.

I don't know about anyone else but seeing him take the field for the Patriots gives me a Gronk. No homo, I promise (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Saints fans love to say Jimmy Graham is better. I scoff at them.

I think Jimmy Graham is a fantastic receiver. He's every bit as good as Gronk when it comes to the skill position that requires running routes and catching a football. Where Gronk obliterates Graham is his brutality and in the running game. He's the prototypical all round package. Quite simply, the guy is unstoppable when healthy.

Huge "disappointment, he's only going to earn 60% of his salary at best. Gets hit way too much, smart players don't get hit............................

Oh wait, that's a ridiculous argument.......................... What an idiot I am.

Jimmy Graham is a great player. Say he's a better player than Gronk, fair enough you're entitled to your opinion. But to say he's a better tight end than Gronk? That's absolutely ludicrous! Jimmy Graham is a glorified receiver. Gronk is a real tight end.

gronkeykong

a man amongst boys

and he let brady enter his world last week. true gentelman

Exactly. No one is the total package Gronk is. Graham is a hell of a receiver but he can't hold Gronks jock when it comes to blocking.

As receivers from a purely numbers stand point Gronk has a sleight upper hand.

Graham - 280rec, 3594yds, 36tds

Gronk - 218rec, 3096yds, 41tds

Graham's played 57 games and Gronk's played 48. Gronk has more TDs in less games and averages more yds per game with 64.5 Graham with 63.1. Throw in Gronk's blocking and the scale tips even more.

Two great players, best in the game. I'll stick with Gronk...

All I really care about is that Gronk stays healthy for the post-season Run...this guy is probably one of the best receivers in the NFL next to calvin johnson in terms of his importance to the offense...not only as a receiver but in how defense have to allocate defenders to him. since He/Vereen have been back/together this offense has moved on teams at will it seems.

I also think he's gonna break 1000 yards(or close to it) even missing 6 games this year..

Not to interrupt the wave of Gronk admiration, of which I am one, my only concern was TB locking in on him. I kinda saw that in a game a ways back and it wasn't good. Regardless, having Gronk back is HUGE! Having massive production from the TE spot is HUGE. The heat he can cause to himself taking the heat of other receiving options is HUGE. Provided he can stay healthy his numbers look to be on a trajectory that is phenomenal for only a half season. A statement that says "best TE in the NFL right here!".

It's pretty safe to assume he wouldn't want to

If you're going to emulate the Staffordtron mode of football, having Gronk as that guy (with his catch radius) is someone worth locking on.

You one upped me on that reply Aus! ...... +1

I've been saying this for awhile now, Gronk the best non QB offensive player in the game right now. Better than Calvin Johnson, or AP.

How this offense struggled without him, and how its looked past 5 games, just night and day. He effects both the passing and running game in such a huge way. Just a complete player. Elite receiver, elite blocker. A nightmare to tackle. He does everything

He's a beast among boys....its almost not fair...

Let me start off by saying I love Jimmy Graham, I have nothing against him, he's a great TE, terrific player....,

But I find the thought of people saying Graham is better than Gronk to be more insulting than the whole Manning>Brady argument. Its not even close.

Graham an amazing receiver, even when he's covered, he's really not, but so is Gronk. Receiving wise, they are equal. Blocking wise I laugh. Gronk's in another league.

Perfect example, when we played the Saints this year, and Talib completely shut down Graham. Replace Graham with Gronk in that situation, Gronk moves closer to the tackle, and any smart QB would audible for a run to Gronks side. In that situation, Gronk would completely humble Talib in that spot, forcing the defense to change their tactic.

Its nothing against Graham, he's great, but Gronk is just to much.
